wear longer running shorts for easy/long runs. Anything remotely fast or hard then the shorter racing models come out. Attempt at psychology ; link certain type of short with hard intense effort. Also, must confess, in summer I like the idea of nice tanned legs - not just nice tanned calves!!
Seriously, anyone else out there remember the Ron Hill freedom short? Now there was a comfortable, practical, classic short!
I like BOA (Built On Athletics) shorts. Very comfortable.
BOA ftw
6'3" with long legs.5" NB shorts are my "racing shorts."

Wait just a God damn minute! wrote:
Seriously? There are people who still train in split shorts?!
I wear the shortest splits I can buy, on every run. 34 years old, 6'1" 165, in good shape and tan. I have no idea why, if you are not fat, you would ever want MORE fabric on you while exerting yourself in any way. I can't even understand how people wear shirts while running.
Just yesterday a really cute blonde girl driving by honked and whistled out her window at me as she passed. I live in barcelona and getting catcalled by a catalan girl is like seeing bigfoot. She was alone in the car too so I know it wasn't a "hey let's mock this dude in the shorts" sort of deal.
Seriously you've never seen anything like the kind of sh!t these european runners get decked out in for a simple round-the-block after work. Full knee length spandex, spandex shirt, backpack, fanny pack, hats, aero glasses, camelback, iphone strapped to the arm, compression knee socks, my god. I get looked at like a pure lunatic wearing splits and a bandana and nothing else.
But I'm a naked-as-I-can-get type. I'd run in absolutely nothing if it wasn't going to get me arrested.
