Season begins next week, first race in 2 weeks. I'm in pretty good shape now but I felt a strange feeling from pushing off my feet (walking around) and am worried it is a stress fracture coming back. I NEED to race in 2 weeks, and I plan on racing well. However, I'm not going to risk injury this early in the season and screw it all up. I've gone 6 days without running, just a bunch of cross training to give any potential problems in my feet time to heal, and keep my fitness where it is.
How would you proceed if you were in this situation? Easy run tomorrow? Give it a few more days? I felt "something," a little pressure in my foot for about 15 seconds while doing cardio today but have had no pain at all for any of it. Also, if I have flat feet, would orthotics help reduce the risk of stress fractures in my feet?
