Again?
"Your" troll?
I thought the following table might help you decide. Just ask what his favorite composer is and that will tell you his IQ:
IQ - Composer
70 - Pachelbel
75 - Vivaldi
80 - Handel
85 - Tchaikovsky
90 - Mozart
95 - Johann Strauss
100 - Haydn
105 - Rachmaninov
110 - Bruckner
115 - Beethoven
120 - Sibelius
125 - Copland
130 - Mahler
135 - Bach
140 - Shostakovich
145 - Ravel
150 - Stravinsky
This is hilarious. I assume you just invented this list? I'm a Bach man, but, cognitive ability wise, have only tested at a Copland level (although he is in my top 3-5, for sure).

I've never met anyone who likes classic music before, definitely not anyone my age. I've been seeing a guy the past month or so who seems very mature and thoughtful, and he started listening to classical music yesterday when we were in the car. I didn't know what to think, if he was joking or serious. He said he listens to it regularly. He asked me if I listen to it, and I just had to say no. It made me feel really stupid for not knowing anything about it. It got me thinking, do smart people listen to classical music? Is my boyfriend smart? Please help me.
If it "drops the panties" he will continue to listen to that ghey chit.
It is all about the puss. Sorry, but that is reality. Men can't help it, it is in our nature.
I just made this stuff up off the top of my head. I toyed with a number of favorites in a 150+ category, including some personal favorites that are more modern and outside of the mainstream, but I didn't want to hijack the thread any more than I already had.
As for Telemann, he was so prolific that it depends to some extent upon which part of his huge body of work you are considering. Much of his work appeals to me, but I am generally not a big fan of the baroque era. I always thought that among his contemporaries, Bach, Zelenka, Vivaldi (who gets dinged here because of those people who know him only from the Four Seasons and list him as their favorite by default) Handel (ditto for Water Music aficionados) and perhaps even Corelli were more interesting.
I test out as between Mahler and Bach, though on most days my favorite composer is Shostakovich.
[In another thread someone dinged the Sibelius placement, probably correctly. Keeping with the Nordic theme for 120, I'd suggest swapping in Nielsen instead.]
What about...Xenakis, Schoenberg, Stockhausen, Ligeti, Penderecki, Varese, Cage, Schnittke, Lutoslawski?
Stoller and Lieber wrote some classic stuff too!!
"Hound Dog"
"Kansas City"
"Smokey Joe's Cafe"
"Yakety Yak"
"Poison Ivy"
"Charlie Brown"
"Ruby Baby"
"Jailhouse Rock"
"Love Potion No. Nine"
"Is That All There Is?"
"I'm a Woman"
"Searchin'"

Hi Steve remember me. You lived next door to me on 81st off York in the 1970's.
not a Skuj bump but I'm helping the march to 100 posts too.
Once the benchmark is met this will sink off the page I'm sure.

Where would you put Prokofiev? He is in my top 3 with Bach and Shastakovich.
Agree about Prokofiev. I was thinking of putting him in the top three, but I didn't necessarily want to have the high IQ ones to have too much of a Russian flavor.
It is never easy being Switzerland...
OP here. I'm a troll. I'm a dude. I do in fact like classical music, but I'm not pretentious about it at all, though I did have a girlfriend react pretty funny once when I put it on in the car (I had been dating her for months by this time). You guys need to let the thread die. My god. I cannot believe how many posts this thing has gotten nor how little content there is within the posts. Get a life.
until this thread gets to 100 posts *poof*
