No, your ignorance will not be excused, and therefore your answer will not be answered.
same reason that Arkansas never goes... they don't need to.

and Stanford needs to.
No, Stanford does not NEED to go, they CHOOSE to go. Wisconsin does not NEED to go, and they CHOOSE not to go.
So (1) what is the purpose of pre-nats, and (2) what are the criteria for "needing" or not "needing" to go?

The purpose of pre-nats is officially to preview the nationals course, albeit a shorter version of the one that will be used in November. For most on Wisco's team, that was probably accomplished at last year's District meet or 2002's Championship, both also held at Terre Haute.
For most teams that go, however, the purpose of the race is to earn at-large points to qualify for nationals in the event that they don't finish in the top-2 in their Region.
Since Wisconsin is a heavy favorite to win the national title, let alone the Regional, they've decided not to go. They haven't gone in recent years either. It doesn't seem to have hurt them.
Thanks for the insight.
One reason Wisco isn't going is that last time they went there some local chicks gave half the team the crabs the night before the race.
Jerry is one smart coach as theose same girls will be looking for studs like Wisco again.
You get crabs, though, big deal, just scrub 'em.
Nothin' a little flea soap won't cure.
Totally.
