The characters in funny costumes will be on the course and they will attempt to run out and tackle you while running. Oh wait, that was the Olympics.
Surprisingly hilly.
There are quite a lot of cement portions in the late stages that will really annoy you. It's also a real pain standing in the corral for 2 hours beforehand. Not to mention the 100 dollar entry fee.
And Florida weather is funny; it could be freezing or it could be disgustingly hot. Last year it was 40 degrees and windy. Really sucked standing in the corral that long.
Couple years earlier it was very warm. Don't know why so many people want to do that marathon, seems like there are a ton of better ones around.
Maybe because their families put up with their running addiction all year?

Pussy
Flat, boring, mostly interstate highway type roads, Disney employes stationed along the course to "cheer" when there are no spectators (which is about 95% of the course). You've got to be crazy to shell out the money for this race, not to mention train you ass off for it. Run anything BUT Disney.
I've run the 1/2 and full a few times. The start typically sucks. Up to 2 hours of standing in the cold, and I do mean cold. It was 33 degrees at the start a couple of years ago. Typically in the low to mid 40's. It's dark for the first hour or so and can be horribly foggy. There are virtually NO spectators and with a large portion of the course on cement it beats the sh*t outta your legs. Reduced me to a walk after about 13 the first time I ran it. Running through the parks is neat, problem is the several mile stretches in between them, so what you have is 30 minutes of really neat running and the rest being lonely straight flat boring stretches. The course is a pancake meaning you never change muscle groups, meaning your legs are shot by 20 and sore for longer than usual. Another consideration is the tempertaure change. The year it was 33 at the start it was also in the 70's by the finish. Bodies don't always adjust well to that kind of variation especially while trying to run 26 miles. The entry fee is steep as you really don't get anything that you wouldn't get at other marathons charging half as much. It is quite a party aptmosphere though and to me the combination of disney plus 25000 runners means a great time. Its well organized and seeding (if you happen to be "fast")
is well organized and enforced meaning a relatively smooth start for those under 3 hours and everyone else as I've run it from the front and jogged it from the rear. Hint:
If your in the "elite" corral you can get there literally minutes before the start as you'll load last and save yourself having to stand in the cold 2 hours and stiffen up. I give it a 7 out of 10. If it wasn't for the fact that its (at) Disney it would rate far less.
