I did. And she dumped me for a faster guy. True story.

If Mary Cain has faster PRs than you you're not very good.
Says the 19 minutes DR2.0.
I would be jealous if she had her grade 11 and I only had my grade 10.
Any girl with faster PRs than mine in my main events would be extremely world class - in one event I think my PR was faster than the world record. So, this would only happen if she was a pro runner, and I would be cool with that.
wouldn't the question be, would she date you?
There is a saying in the business world "As hire As and Bs hire Cs."
I think this thread is a prefect example of that. A bunch of B class also-rans who are threatened by A class women.
Of course, I always think there is an unspoken part of that saying where "Cs aren't in a position to hire." Let's be honest, most of you probably don't date anyway.
I am an accomplished female runner and this has been an issue in my past relationships. One man simply lied about his PBs and another constantly reminded me that he "used to be a really good runner."
Guys, please get it through your heads that it is way more sexy to be confident and supportive of your women than it is to be fast.
There's a serious logic problem in this thread. The fact that men are, on average, faster than women says very little about whether we should expect a single male runner to be faster than a single female runner.
I've heard decent local guys complain about being beaten by people like Shalane or Kim Smith in road races, and to me, it just speaks to a larger issue of sexism. These women can (and should be able to) beat most guys who run. They're world class! Just being born a dude does not mean you're better than all women in the world at running--or even that you ought to expect to be.
Also, if you can't be with a woman who is better than you at something, I feel bad for the woman who gets with you! Unless, of course, she enjoys being submissive.
Agree on Emma. But I doubt that many women would date guys who are serious about running but slower. My wife wouldn't, even though she says she would in order not to appear superficial.
If I were into dating women, sure. But I've seen a number of mediocre guys in a certain running "mecca" or two who go out of their way to hook up with current or former elite women with self-esteem issues, and these "men" are friggin' pathetic. Yes, hard as it is to believe, distance-running groupies, male ones, exist. There should be an entire chapter in any standard abnormal psychology textbook about this.
If I met a woman who I hit it off with and cared for, then I don't think I'd be worried about something as trivial as her running times being better than mine. It would be pretty cool to have someone to talk running with and go to races with though.

fixed.

Or have very good taste.
Are we talking about a hypothetical female with faster PRs? Or someone who actually exists? Because if it's the latter, then for most serious male runners, the list of faster women (at least in the US) is going to be pretty short. Then the question becomes, "would you date one of these specific women?"

As a woman, this is how I feel. If you ain't faster than me, we can't date... worse yet, you need to be Mercier faster than me.
I have standards people.
This reminds me of an exchange I saw at the start line of a road race a couple of years ago. Reasonably fast local runner showed up kind of late and was trying to work his way right up to the line. It was a narrow line, and he asked a woman who was toeing it if he could go ahead of her. (Yeah, I know it's just a road race, and he probably should've just sucked it up and done a little weaving at the start.) The woman gets kind of pissy and says, "what makes you think I'm not faster than you?" He said, "well, you're not Molly Huddle."

That's actually pretty funny.
Sure, I would date a woman who finishes before I do
Listen beergoogles, I got standards to. Are you a 6 or 12 pack?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
