Abbey was running in flats, not spikes, injured?
Hmmm wasn't there a national class distance runner who came close to running under 10 4 or 5 years ago?
Interesting, must be something going on. Maybe the 10 at heps wasn't the smart choice. She did look uncomfortable and her upper body was tilted siide ways :(
Anyone who watched Stanford and has seen Hall run over the last 2 years, had to consider her a favorite today. She has been quietly transforming from a solid middle distance runner, into a strong long distance competitor with nasty closing speed. It just took her a while to bring it all together.
Hall and the rest of the UT women's program have a new coach this year, and they seem to be doing very well. The recruiting talent is always there, and the team is making the most of it!

Tremendous race by Hall.
I had never heard of her a year ago and now her future is as bright as anyone's.
Does anyone know more about her background. Texas is not known for producing distance runners.
Hall didn't exactly come from out of now where, she has been a blue chipper since high school. She has raced everything from the 800 to the 10K and has always been a good cross coutry runners as well. She has been inconsistent, putting up early season good marks, but fading towards the end of the season and perhaps focusing on to many different events. Up to now, her long distance races have been run mostly off of talent and MD training. From what I heard somewhere, she just started doing specific LD training this year.
Congrats Marielle!
Not all that shocking to anyone who's been paying attention to her progression....especially this year!
This thread is useless without pics
Hall seems poised and mentally tough. Given her speed and running efficiency, there is a lot of upside potential. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see her on the Olympic team in 2016 if she gets into a solid post-collegiate program.
I absolutely agree that she has a great shot to make the 2016 Olympic team.
She was virtually invisible on the national level until a few months ago and now she beats two of the all-time fastest American collegiate 5000 runners. Crazy.
The closest parallel I can think of is Anna Willard at Michigan, but she lost about 20 lbs of adiposet on the way to becoming a top collegiate her senior year.
It was pretty clear in watching the race that Abbey was not 100%. My guess was either anemia or lower fitness level from injury or just a coach over racing her @ the conference meet.
I agree, but Cuffe seemed 100%, and she is a 15:11 girl. Coming into the season, Hall was over a minute slower than that!

BIG DAWGS GOTTA EAT
Looks like a spike plate and bottom to me. Just a non aggressive distance spike.
