Lukas wasn't a junior. He was 18 and graduated that year.
How old is O'Toole? Its says in the article that he goes to Middlesex School. These schools (Middlesex, Exeter, Andover) have many seniors who have repeated a year at some point in high school mainly because of the level of academic demands. Not to rain on the parade -- even if he is a little old its an incredible performance -- but is he a 5th year high schooler?

Just turned 18 in March.
He has an IAAF bio because he paced the Dream Mile last year.
Middlesex is a prep school. Not a high school.
Do the prep schools still have student athletes who are "post grads" (effectively college freshmen)?
They used to and for that reason were not included in high school lists and records back in the day.

You're joking, right?
Of course not. He really does.
Noticed that the inside rail was made up of cones. Hope the Harvsrd coach does not call him out for that (since he will be in his conference next year).
Damn! That's a kid who has the world by the tail. That was a better interview than I've seen from many pro runners.
Did you just say Bernie Montoya isn't a US citizen? Are you on something?

Why are there asterisks on Montoya and Verzbicas' times?
I'm guessing cause they're fairly recent times

The list comes from Track and Field News and the asterisks indicate junior class status at the time of the performance.
Anyone who says LV wasn't a junior classman at the time will have to talk to Jack Shepard. He has his own way of doing things.

You gotta remember that this is a VERY conservative website.
I heard he's Canadian. Do Canadians record actual birthdays? Maybe they need to do some carbon dating on this kid and verify that he's not 24. While they are at it, they should run some HGH / EPO tests. I heard they don't test Prep school kids. Also, Prep school kids are wicked smart. Has someone investigated whether or not he had an unfair advantage because of the smart tactical acumen instilled in him? If Blake Haney had had the same advantage, he probably would have run about 9 seconds faster in the Pre mile.
P.S. O'Toole rocks!
Way to make Mass. (and the ISL) proud! Awesome.

Well we can say he at least had a great high school career !

I've definitely learned that by now. The amount of threads on a "running" message board about terrorists and the Taliban really is astonishing to me. But anyways, I guess I've grown to accept it.
Anyways, if the OP was being serious, well...I don't think the kid is going to cut his hair for you.
I'm still surprised that long-distance runners are so conservative. I always figured they would swing more liberal. After all, someone like Prefontaine is an American running idol, and he was definitely very liberal (at least I think so).

That was me! Just speculation, because I know Lukas V. wasn't a US citizen when he ran the 3:59. Honestly, I hadn't heard of Bernie before, so my apologies!
He's a Princeton commit.

Lukas was in his 3rd year of high school. He happened to be pretty old for his grade, so he was the age of a typical senior. In addition, he graduated in 3 years.
In a few years he can duke it out with Will Leer, Evan Jager and Ben Blankenship !
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
