Pretty harsh considering he "only" ran a 3:50 mile the week after a strong leg in the Bahamas. Also Magut is banned and he ran a 3:49!
After reading through the article, it's AK is trying to prevent another situation where an athlete is overworked and putting themselves in physical danger for a paycheck. It's most likely a response to the Magut incident, the Kenyan marathoner who almost died finishing the race (http://www.capitalfm.co.ke/sports/2014/04/29/magut-almost-dies-to-finish-race/).
Still, this is a terrible way of dealing with the situation. Particularly since Kiprop has a pretty solid track record, but will occasionally pop a bad race.
wow, AK is almost as incompetent as USATF
They are terrible, they do nothing to help these guys or promote talent. They come in and try to rip where they did not sow.
Brainless.
You know what'd be hilarious? If AK thought those were 1500m times and banned them because of that.
I can't stand Isaiah Kiplagat, but he does have a pion here. These agents treat Kenyan athletes like racehorses and couldn't give two hoots about their health just thinking of the bottom line. Why should Kiprop run in EVERY meet every week?

I'm laughing but also kind of horrified because that might just be true.
“We are in charge of athletics in this country and we can break any contract the athletes have signed with organisers of any event if we think that it’s not for the benefit of the athletes,” said Kiplagat.
dictator much
Why should "Kenya" have anything to do with this? DL is not the Olympics. Get rid of Lasgast, we'll take Kiprop here. One thing we Americans won't stand for is injustice.
Now it all makes sense...NIKE OWNS ATHLETICS KENYA. Alberto is still salty about Kiprop beating Mo in that 1500 last year, and he's figured that there's no way in hell that mo will beat kiprop in a 1500 post marathon so he's having athletics kenya suspend kiprop so mo can get some diamond league wins in the 1500. Duhhhhhhh.

What makes you think Kiprop wants to be American? It must perplex you to no end the number of Kenyan defections to western countries isn't higher. Kenyans are proud and love living in their country just fine. It will be a long time before you see a Little Nairobi in NYC.
Sadly, I'm sure you've made the wheels start spinning in the heads of some people...
I know they are lumping everyone in to make a point.
But Kiprop has the world lead in the 1500m and ran a time this year that only 10 other men in history have bettered.
His biggest mistake at Pre was being a bit aggressive and then setting others to pass him.
And Kiplagat has run the same schedule as Kiprop.
They ruined Kiprop and of the Kenyan 1500m team for the 2012 Olympics with their camp and they trying to mess his season up this year.
AK is a mess! Someone said they were almost as bad as USATF. This is much worse. USATF has some issues, but not like AK who are actively shooting themselves in the foot year after year. They should realize feet are very important for runners!
On the contrary, AK is very competent.
Get him out of circulation, do the required PED cycle, and get him back in better form.
It's called protecting your athletes. This is a textbook situation, where they offer him shelter for what he is about to do. It happens all the time, around the world.
Kiprop is probably a great miler in his own right, if he goes 3:50 he is amazing--but he is in the same race as everybody else, the race to the bottom. Other guys who have finished their cycles will, and have, crushed his 3:50
This is Kenya's modus operandi, and good for them.
Only a complete idiot would call AK incompetent, considering the raving success they have had over the decades, and continue to enjoy.

You're obviously trolling, but Kenya had a terrible performance in the 2012 Olympics.
"We can’t let rogue managers and agents exploit our athletes by making them run in even when they are tired.” Kiplagat warned that they will also ban agents and managers whose athletes won’t heed their directive."
I can understand Chemos, but Sum and Kiprop? Sum hasn't had a bad race and Kiprop was 2 seconds off his mile PR. Incompetent isn't a strong enough word...
