I am surprised that so many people think Rupp is dirty. A majority of foreigners do, and almost a majority of americans.
it's a tough gig - he's done everything right, is one of the most tested people on the planet, he's from a clean country, he is somewhat inconsistent...still half think he is dirty. -
Complete, total, absolute, unmitigated, rubbish.
Anybody who has even the slightest intellectual sophistication will understand why. -
Below is correct.
Huge self selection and confirmation biases here.
Unfortunate to see this posted.

People aren't stupid. Can't break 4:00 in the mile, suddenly he's talking about a world record indoors. Meanwhile, his training partner can't sniff being competitive in a global final and is now wiping everyone away in finals and running 3:28 for 1500 for kicks on the side.
Please name one other global titan on the men's side who also wasn't a child prodigy. Whether it was Coe, Bekele or Geb, greatness is normally easy to see coming.
Yes, they are doing everything right. Apparently, nearly half of us think he's doing everything right and then some.
It reminds me of when I used to watch Lance beat everyone in the TDF. We knew most of his competitors were dirty so it was hard to think Lance wasn't but I so wanted it to be true, it was a lot of fun to try to convince myself he was somehow clean.
It amazes me that you are upset upset that it's so high for Rupp and Farah.
Salazar long ago made it clear it's not just about the running. We know that 100% Whether it's simply legal stuff like thyroid meds or altitude tents or something illegal, it's clearly about stuff that others don't have access to. -

no idea how you twist things to not consider rupp a childhood prodigy. He ran a 4:01 mile in hs - apparently #8 on the all time high school list. And held the all time 3k hs record for a long time. Ran 13:37 for 5000 in hs. How do you define 'prodigy?' an OG medal?
I'd say quite a few runners were able to knock 10 seconds off their high school times in teh mile, don't you? Like....every single major miler except webb. And even he improved 7 seconds.
I'll do some research on Farah. -
A higher percentage of respondents believe that Bill Rodgers is dirty than believe Chris Derrick?!?
And that at almost 1 in 13?? I'm pretty cynical about drug use, but, if BR was dirty, I'm giving up sport completely. Not just T&F. Sport. -

10/10
Let's just call the next "poll" which athlete do you hate the most. And to make it interesting only those respondents who explain why get their results counted. Spoiler alert!! Jealousy, envy and dislike of athlete's sponsor top the list. -
farah is a tougher case and I didn't bring him up - you did. I don't like that he trains alone in africa and that he is so consistent.
let's see....
Farah did make a leap after age 22 - he dropped his 1500 time by 10 seconds after age 22.
So it would be like an american guy improving 10 seconds after college.
Is that crazy? Well, David Torrence almost did that - his best mile in college was 3:59 and now he's a 3:33 guy. So I'll say that he is a 3:50 miler now - that makes his post collegiate improvement 9 seconds vs farah's 10 seconds.
So Farah's improvement curve is hardly unprecedented. I didn't even try hard and I found a similar curve. -

Yeah that's not bad for an American, but where was he at the world junior championships? Tariku Bekele finished 3rd in 2004 with a 13:30 5k (at age 17, in a championship race), and he's a year younger than Rupp. 4:01 is 12 seconds slower than the world junior record. 13:37 is 50 seconds slower than Hagos Gebrhiwet at 18 years of age. Kenenisa Bekele ran a 7:30 3k at 19 years of age. These guys were prodigies, they were competitive on the international stage when they were of high school age. They were fast enough to scare the pros even at that time. Rupp? Not so much. -

No he asin't. I can't think of a country with more drug busted champions than the good ol' US of A.
Now Algeria, they have a much cleaner record. -

sorry - how many national team type us distance runners have tested positive or served suspensions? I can't even think of any. Can you?
sprinting is a different story. -
rojo is dirty and we all know it
-
hall is too slow to be dirty. next.
-
Wow, hard to believe more than half think Lagat and Farah are clean....
-
Really Brojos more errors in you facts?
I didn't realize till this article that Mo Farah won the gold medal in the 10,000 in 2008 and thats where Rupp got his Silver.
I guess Bekele must have done the 5 and 10 double in 2012, but that seems to recent, It can't have been that late.... -
If you are white you are much more likely to be considered clean. That says all you need to about the poll and letsrun.com visitors.
-
Why don't you stop doing these defamatory polls and do something constructive toward this sport. Do you realize why everything thinks you're a joke?
If there is a person who is dirty then there has to be some evidence. -

Nice touch characterizing poll participants as "the most sophisticated track and field fans," the poll is probably mostly made up of the idiot trolls that assert with 100% certainty that so and so is doping because "something smells" or because everyone from North Africa is dirty, etc, etc. -

You're comparing almost certainly doped Africans (with joke drug testing) with often fake ages to Caucasian American real junior. Apples to Oranges. Compared to all European ancestry "prodigies," Rupp's 4:01 to 13:37 range in highschool is unmatched, only Lindgren was close to it.
