Was he running for the win or for a fast time? If he's only capable of 1:07, then its a great training stimulus, but he's definitely not going to be great at the marathon when he moves up after Rio

I hope you're right. I really like Willis. He's a family guy that only runs once a day 6 days a week but is so good. I really like guys like that. Kind of like Lagat in that regard. Willis is definitely one of the few non-americans I root for.
I'm going to guess this was as much about promoting the pro mile/800 meet he's putting on in August. The Dexter-Ann Arbor Run is the biggest annual event in the area.

Yeah that would make sense. And I was looking at the race results, and boy is that a good road race. I wish we had more road races here with that level of competition.
Here we have maybe 5-6 good road races a year, and any more than that you have to talk to the fast guys and convince them to show up.
