Wow. What a meet.
Oles came in second after Jake Brown had stomach(?) issues. Would've smashed the field otherwise. Individual national champion, three top fifteen finishers. Paul Escher came on STRONG toward the end of the year. They've had an amazing season, and look to be the favorites for MIAC's next year. Paul Timm and Keith Ketola look to potentially be big helpers in their quest for another podium finish. The big question is... Will Cal Lehn be back? He would be the nail in the coffin to make them the conference and regional champions.
Carleton 18th... Hornor looked great coming in top twenty. Barry supposedly fell a few times early on... They return all of their top five from this race next year. Supposedly their fifth guy, Haase, has been dealing with iron issues all season. It will be interesting to see what they do if they can have a healthy Barry, a more experienced Cook, and some quick recruits/currently recovering sophomores next year. Could they challenge for the MIAC crown?
St. Thomas came in second to last and got some much needed nationals experience. They have a great shot at making it again next year, and are on the outside looking in when it comes to MIAC contenders.
Feichtinger has found his stride as a cross country runner and leader of the squad. The Johnnies could be another national qualifying sleeper next year.
I'm excited for next year already.
