After reading the thread about Blake Haney's choppy stride compared to Verzbikas' and Fernandez's loping stride, I began to realize that many times these variations seem to coincide with the runners' leg compositions.
Do short/thick legs cause a short stride? Or, does a short stride develop short/thick legs?
This seems like a stupid question but look at people like Bekele. He isn't physically gifted with long, slender legs like the Kenyans, yet he still has one of the most elegant and open strides. Someone like Mo Farah has long legs and, of course, as a long stride. I realize genetics plays the biggest role but I think there is more to it than this.
Can you think of any runners with thin legs and a short, choppy stride? What is the main cause of think legs?
