That basically was tempo pace for her. A normal tempo would only be about five miles though according to Coogan.
She felt bad she wasn't leading so she took the lead and kept the pace steady as she felt good.
Coogan said se's going to do five by Nike after the men's 10k. I'll give you all the splits.
you mean five by mile?

Thanks for the updates Rojo! Appreciate it!
if she runs the payton jordan 10000 next year, i see her going sub 31:30.
Nice debut and victory, but she's no Caroline Bierbaum.
Poor Jordan. She'll be lucky to get top 5 US next yr. 10,000 is getting to be the hot event. Probably bc the 5,000 is crazy competitive on the world level.
Whoa--Abbey D'Agostino will be running her first (I think?) track 10,000m ever at this weekend's Heps (Ivy League) championship meet:

I doubt that she'll be going for an amazing time--just points, more'n likely, given that she's entered for a 3/5/10 triple--but it'll be her first event of the meet, so she should be ready to run!
Could her Dartmouth squad be in contention for a team win???
UPdate the race is over: check here for a post-race interview with Abbey:

RoJo, thanks for the updates and interview. Added a lot of color to bare race results.

Good grief.
Rojo, could you elaborate on this exceptional piece of coaching advice
Abby gives the most adorable interviews. And "transitive properties" was a good one...I suspect JK behind that one!

I'm an Abbey D' fan...I'm surprised she is doing this and I think it's a bad idea. What does it accomplish? I doubt that Dartmouth women can win HEPS even if Abbey wins 3K, 5K and 10K. She should not risk injury by overdoing it before NCAA's.
Just got back from a road trip so I don't know how it turned out, but if Abbey wins a triple, Dartmouth would have to be in the mix unless they can't any other points. Three other points:
A lot of star athletes triple at conference meets to help their team.
Get an NCAA qualifiers.
If you are really good, one or two of the races will be no more than a tempo.
Winning a triple is a great accomplishment, why leave bread on the table or have regrets later in life.
Looks like she won the 5000 in 16:34.48 which is almost the same exact pace as the 10,000. 10,000 average 5,000 was 16:35.19 so looks like she was able to take it nice and easy in advance of the 3000 which will take place in a few hours.
I see no reason to not do the triple at this point as the 10k and 5k were quite moderate.
