Didn't Karl Keska of University of Oregon run sub-5 in 1996?

Brah, I don't understand how this guy can be so RIPPED AND SHREDDED and run so good without spending time every day in a box.
This whole thing was so phony from the start. Have you seen a CrossFit submission video? You should do a close-up of every beer to show alcohol content and that it actually has beer in it...put each one on a scale and prove it.
They sounded, and looked empty. I've chugged many a beer and even when you chug it perfectly, when you dump it over your head, a few drops come out.
Total effing BS. There needs to be an impartial audience. This is a hoax.
Letsrun should give this guy a quote of the day.
Even considering the runs by Farah, Meb and Bekele, this is the most significant accomplishment of the spring thus far!
He deserves a black front page!!!!!
That's pretty d*mn incredible when you think of the fact that it's a 4:21 mile with 48 ounces of fiziness building up in his stomach. Most of us here have never even run a 4:21 mile.
the Beast also has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford. a man of many talents.
What is this? Amateur hours?
Who am I kidding. I probably couldn't even go sub 6. Don't have the stomach for it.
This should be tested on that espn sports science show.
I love all the haters on the board:
"he didn't put the can over his head"
"was there any beer in the cans"
"no official record"
hahahahaha, bunch of clowns, I've done this race with James many times and no way he would cheat. would love to see anyone of these kids try to come even close. and if that happens, nice, there is actually running in the news more than once every 4 years!
well done James!

You guys realize none of those "WR" performances by Finlayson were ever recorded right? Just pure heresay.
This is the legit record, as legit as all those on the list.
Pah.... this is nothing.
Robin "YP" Thomas ran 100 miles in 100 hours and drank 100 pints (not 355ml Cans)
Well done to him.. The record will get broken next weekend anyway.

The kid from down under who ran 5:03 using bottles could give him a run. I would think bottles would be slower to down, and the last cap wouldn't twist off. Cost him at least 3 seconds if not more. That should have been the first official sub 5.

I know dombrm and have listened to many of his assertions before. No way would dombrm ever be inaccurate with his assertions
Nice to see some of the old folks chiming in here. I am sure there are a couple of dozen former Triton distance runners and a couple of dozen former Stanford and Farm Team members who all will support James having done this legitimately.
Does anyone know this track and can confirm it is 400 meters?
Looks like marin community college
What if the dude puked on the backstretch each time?
Saladbar's calling for a review and revocation. He thinks that Alejandro deserves the record so he's using Nike clout and pulling USATF and US Senate strings to install his son as the real beer mile record holder.
It is the College of Marin track which is a 400 meter track with accurate markings.

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
