Seen this question many times, but never seen a good answer and looking for a fresh perspective.
Is it normal to have lingering pain when coming back from a foot injury (PTT)? In the first weeks back? It seems better, but sometimes have doubts.

bump. seems better every run. but definietly not pain free. feels like a lump on the bottom of foot.
My uncle got ptt and I'm getting over it right now. He told me how he recovered and how he felt. He says some weeks it would feel worse and some weeks it would feel better. He continued to build up and the pain lessened but very slowly. Finally he got a break from work and went on a vacation where he kept his mileage the same (only 20 miles) for 2-3 weeks. By the time he was back and started building the mileage again the ankle and foot felt much better.
However he said once he reintroduced speed-work he felt it a bit (not actual pain but deep soreness). He went more cautiously and kept on doing his rehab and the soreness eventually went away after a few months.
So yea its ok to feel a little bit of shooting tenderness or soreness and maybe a wee bit of pain. But if it is enough to where you are walking on your heels, ease back a bit. Good luck, I hope both of us can get return to full training!
