The (extended) Flynn effect implies that the current generation is smarter than the previous. I doubt your professor was aware of this.

The root of the problem started with "The Great Society" programs in the 1960s.
Right. Not with the massive cuts on taxes for the rich. But on programs for the poor (that have also been cut to sh&t during the last 30m plus years).
Wow can you guys engage in willful blindness and ignorance
You live a in democracy. Make your next vote count.

You can't vote your way out of this rigged system
Once again, idiot, take a look at the trends of the societal problems that I mentioned after the mid-1960s. Non of the problems "The Great Society" was supposed to eliminate were even reduced. It accelerated all of them. Poverty, out of wedlock birth, crime, dropout rates, etc. Why? Because what was implemented resulted in dependance, not empowerment. And this was all long before your "massive tax cuts" talking point. But keep on spouting your uneducated BS.

You're a redneck if you point out bad signs about the economy! GDP and the unemployment rate are ALL that matter! Stop pointing out that the unemployment rate is only going down because people are dropping out of the labor force and because employers are hiring multiple part-time workers to replace the full time workers ObamaCare forced them to fire. And don't even mention QE infinity. Only a racist would pay attention to those issues! Do you hear me, Tea Party? Government statistics are ALL that matter!!!!!
It is a bit pathetic, but now that it's been brought to my attention and I've read some more about it, I see that I too qualify for food stamps. Not sure I could stomach using them in public, though, sounds humiliating.

Why the quotes around massive tax cuts?
You are still trying to sell the idea that programs with benefits for the poor is why the rich have so much money now and that the tax cuts for the rich have nothing to do with putting all that money in their pockets?
You are a special kind of stupid.

To say nothing of the union busting that has gone on for the past 30 plus years.
I have to agree. El Bee Jay has to be dumb as dirt to think more and more money got sucked up by the richest 1/10th of 1% due to poverty programs. I mean where is the logic there? Does he even think about what he says?
It's the best way to cure obesity.
America's arrogance is finally catching up to it.For decades America beats
it's chest, bragged and bullied all around the world and spent trillions of
dollars on endless wars trying to prove how great it is.Now,it's broke
and it's best days are behind it.
All I know is that I'd rather live in America today than in the 70s.
(as an adult, that is)

The you were not an adult in the 1970s.
If you were, you would know how much has been lost to the Oligarchs

No. We live in an oligarchy disguised as a democracy.

That just shows that food stamps are doing their job. The whole point of the food stamp program, TANF, Section 8, etc is to create dependence on the government.
The government is basically like a heroin dealer. The more people they hook, the more power they have. They don't want the number of users to go down. They want everyone to be a user. Print money, dole it out to a public that is addicted to public funds, and the vote will go your way every time.
not many get it, but glad to see someone does..
Actually, stupid douchebags, El be jay never said anything about the rich at all. Not sure what conversation you guys were having, but I was giving a strong reason why there are so many more people on food stamps now than in 1970. Starting with The Great Society programs of the 1960s, we implemented policies that created dependance on government in the name of morality and fairness, which actually fostered - rather than eliminated - the undesirable outcomes that perpetuate poverty. I spent a good deal of time studying related topics in grad school. All the data is available if you simply take the time to look it up. But I'm sure it's too late for you.
