Best is a subjective idea. It can mean "best competitive results" but is certainly not limited to that. Only you will ever know what your best years are.

Some people have the uncanny ability to consciously detach from objective reality. Hall is one of those people. This is a positive trait in very talented athletes that can result in championships and records, unless one destroys oneself first through unwise training.
If Hall's measurement for success is where he learns the most, was today his best marathon?
