Hey LR - Soon to be 20 year old male in a couple weeks who hasn't competed or ran consistently since Sophomore year of high school.
Goal = to walk on to the XC and T&F team of a in state University starting this upcoming fall. (September 1st XC tryout)
PRs are 5k - 17:40. 1 mile - 4:58. 400 meter - 54.55. Sophomore HS. I am 5 foot 11 inches and have what I believe is average to above average athleticism.(Dunk volleyballs w/ ease)
Today was the final day of my first week back training to a schedule. I finished with 35 miles and I feel great considering I took two days off. Next week I am starting this schedule to continue my base phase.
Monday - AM: 6mi PM: 3mi
Tuesday - AM: 6mi PM: 6mi
Wednesday - AM: 6mi PM: OFF
Thursday - AM: 6mi PM: OFF
Friday - OFF
Saturday - 10mi
Sunday - 7mi
Pace varies between 8:00-9:00min
I am looking for all the advice I can possibly get as I am very motivated towards achieving my goal and willing to put the work in. I would like to know everyones:
Thoughts on current training plan?
What changes I should make to my running?
Tips for being in the best of shape for 5k road race next month?
