Malone had a pretty good meet compared to how bad they crumbled in cross country at the end of the season.
Wins in the Steeple and 10,000. Another scorer in 10,000 and 5000.
I guess they just must be happy they did that well.
If Roush was cocking off during the 5000 it makes him and the team look bad though.
This Roush can be pretty good if he quits worrying about petty conference team rivalries and keeps working. And Malone is in no position just yet to be considered any sort of distance power in the GLIAC.

Completely agree. You wanna chuck up the #1? You do it when you've crossed the finish line. It's not to be utilized as a mid race taunt.
Especially when his PR was 14:50 something and there are 2 guys who have run sub 14:15 in the race...

Probably because Hazen wised up and took over the training for the first time in 8 years..... seriously you think those results in Xc were his fault? He didn't write the workouts nor has he since 2006.
If they were doing the same training they did for outdoor track for this past xc season they most likely would have made it to the national meet.
Jack should be asking himself after the GLIAC meet ( What were we doing for the past 3 years?) He had tons of talent on the team, now most are graduating and blew an opportunity to make the national meet.
The results have been so poor over the years that recruits have took notice. How many 9:20 guys have they got in the past couple of years? 1..2?
They will be at the bottom for a couple more years because this is going to be a loonngggg rebuild for Malone College.
They have not had much success because now they are putting so much stock in the science of training and have forgotten you need a whopping big pair to compete with the big boys. Physiology is very important. But in a race you gotta put the science (heart rate monitors, GPS', running logs) away and just be a tough b@stard. It's something we haven't seen from Malone, which is why they are still high on the exploits of their NAIA success and have failed to realize they aren't good in the big pond.
Check out Windle on the third leg of Ashland's winning 4x4. He wasn't able to pull off the 8/15 double on the short rest but he showed something special here (in his fifth race in a bit more than 24 hours).

What? Why would the head coach not write his teams workouts? If this is true, not only is it extremely negligent but pretty unethical of Coach Paterno, whoops I meant Hazen. Of course it is his fault whether he wrote the workouts or not, he is the head coach.
Malone was only over-hyped by their own team, alumni, and parents. Malone (XC) again, fell short. Ferris's MD runner (800/1500) did a replay of XC Regional. Just saying. They also had a sprinter get third in the 100 and 200 finals. Hillsdale's 4x4 team was surprising as well.
As for Drew, there is no doubt he's a great runner, probably the best in GLIAC we have seen in a while. However being Ashland depends on him in Cross, I would like see what he could do in a 3k. Could he break 9..........?
I would like to see what Windle could do for 3k as well. I'd bet it would be under 9 for sure. That said, I don't depends on him for xc at all. If he does well, good for them. Ashland's team will have Nick Hall (9th at conferences last year) and David Knack joining Baum,Michel, Sussman and Potes. They should make nationals for sure.
I meant to say "I don't think Ashland depends on him for xc at all."
I heard Baum is transferring...... There goes that CC group :(
Baum transferring, Michel quit running, Sussman graduated.
Seriously? Where is Baum transferring to? And Michel quit running? Too bad for Ashland if true.
Start the GLIACXC 2014 forum early! Lets do it!
No.
Baum is not transferring, Michel has indeed quit, but Sussman was a junior in xc..he will be back. AUs top 5 all have PRs under 25:30, lets see them put it together.
I wouldn't be surprised if AU takes down GV this year at GLIACs.

Really? Because as a former Eagle I would be shocked.
AU hasn't really had 5k/10k runners since the 2012 class of stratman johnson and weaver. They didn't score anyone in either at the past GLIAC meet.
Having said that, their mid D crew definitely steps up in distance pretty well with baum, sussman and hall, but GV has a slew of sub 14:30 guys ready to roll.
Love my eagles but its probably not going to happen unfortunately.
Depends on the day each of the teams are having. Sure GV has a bunch of sub 14:30 guys, but Ashland could put all of their guys (meaning their scoring 1-5) under 14:30 on the track if they ever trained for it. Baum jogged sub 15 at GLIACs. Yeah mid D guys struggle a little at 10k but all of their guys are likely moving up in event focus with Baum already moving to the steeple, knack 5k/10k in track, Hall could run 5k and probably should given xc success, Potes 15:30 guy in HS, Sussman could be a hell of an xc guy/5k guy if he can stay healthy..he's got the build. The team has the talent, so maybe this is the year. They've been getting closer and closer, they'll beat Malone for sure, no one even cares about them at this point. They have front runners, but that doesnt work in college Xc anymore..Ashland could happen
