Has Nick Symmonds lost his mind?

Not now that you asked me in public! I agree with you, some good stuff on here but way overpriced and the meets I wanted to watch live this year (Rupp and Cain record performance meets) had "technical difficulties"

a few years back Nick ran 1:48 down under in Feb then in the summer ran 1:42-1:43.

Pre Classic happens to be a competition, and Symmonds is one of the best and most marketable track athletes in the country. He could obviously run...if he gave a sh!t about Pre Classic.

You don't really understand how the pro circuit works. Appearances and accepted entries at DL meets are not up to the athletes nor their agents. This is true across the board, and in Nick's case the middle finger was signing with Brooks. Pre is not/will not be an option for him. It's that simple.

DL regulations say:

Where applicable, the Meeting Director should allow at least one starting place in each event for national Athletes, one for the Diamond Race winner of the previous season and

places for athletes leading the Diamond Race tables.

Early in the season, this would seem to mean anybody with points is an AQ. If Symmonds places top 3 in Doha or Shanghai, they would have no choice.

He didn't say he will run it in 60 mins, or even break 60. He said run it at a long tempo pace that he can maintain for (at least) one hour. Tempo paces are not 100%, so he won't be completely shot by that point. He'll just have to dig down some or slow up a bit.

Don't get your underwear all twisted. I'm sure he is only "running" it and not "competing" in it. I see no problem with him doing this.
