To those who insist that it's possible that AlSal meant "mortal enemy" in the spirit of athletic competition: You know, in isolation, such a characterization of one coach by another might not imply any genuine ill will, and be strictly contained to a high-test sporting rivalry.
BUT...BUT...
When the same guy later has to be restrained from possibly taking a swat at his "mortal enemy," and even behaves toward said enemy's athletes in as methodically despicable, unfair and manipulative a manner as Salazar did in Albuquerque, it kind of dispenses of the notion of a passing pot-shot, doesn't it? There's the CONTEXT y'all are demanding, in HDTV on a 60" flat-screen and booming surround-sound.
Look, if I wrote in an e-mail or even on this board that I really wanted to jam a dick up wejo's butt, you'd demonstrate a reasonable reaction by assuming that I wasn't being literal. But if two years from now, I was spotted in a city park bending a wailing wejo bent over a bench with his pants at his ankles and furiously ramming a vibrator in and out of his stinkhole, it wouldn't be very reasonable to revisit that e-mail and say, "I think he just meant that as a figure of speech."
Similarly, AlSal has done nothing but treat Schumacher as if he really is his worst imaginable enemy, so regarding that e-mail as the lazy hot air of a spirited coach plainly makes no sense.
