Well, shes not that cute, and she has an autistic personality.
She is socially awkward, but so is Galen Rupp, and people seem to like him.
Yeah, that was a genuinely bad performance in the 800 heats. I think both Laura Roesler (currently in fantastic form) and Cain would have done better.
Not buying the jet lag excuse, by the way. I've flown overseas a dozen times, and jet lag shouldn't be a problem on Friday, if you flew in on Tuesday--especially for a youngster.
Her ethnicity, of course

Laura Roesler who DNFed in the 800 in Washington last week? Not sure if that constitutes great form.
I'm glad the ridiculous pick the owners of this site forwarded didn't pan out. Bummed about Wilson though.
Yes, the Laura Roesler who was merely pacing for a teammate last week. She could win the NCAAs running backwards this year.

I remember after she won the World Youth Championships she receive very little press from Letsrun and then when World Junior Championships came around again very little from Letsrun. After she won World Junior somehow Mary Cain's performances stole the spotlight. Ajee Wilson finishes 6th at World Championships and has the fastest time in the world this year and a proven racer, yet Letsrun again finds a way to find someone non-African to be their favorite.
Articles appear saying Ajee Wilson doesn't receive the coverage she deserves compared to Mary Cain but when media takes every opportunity not to give her, her proper accolades then why ask that question? So Letsrun what does Ajee have to do to be a favorite in you book besides be the fastest going into a championship and a proven Championship racer?
I don't have anything against AW. In act, I truly wish her huge success & a long, awesome career.
The problem is people like VIPAM that support AW. The not so subtle insinuations that there's a racist conspiracy to not give AW props is asinine, and perhaps there's some LRC blowback on AW because of how truly annoying posts from VIPAM & other AW 'fans'?

PLEASE stop mentioning one event as being a determining factor in athletes career as it didn't stop Wilson Kipketer, Maria Mutola, nor has it stopped David Rudisha from receiving their just accolades as one event specialist.
Dominating Ajee? Ajee is more of a 400m/800m runner and Mary is alittle more of a 1500m/5000m runner. So how many times have they met at a distance not favoring Mary? Both of them are rare talents but don't put Ajee down just to build Mary up, enjoy both of our young U.S talents and let's just hope they both do well in their careers and receive as much publicity as they can get from the media!
Excelling at one event as opposed to showing competitiveness over a range of distances is a factor, especially when comparing young phenoms. It is not the determining factor. I don't at all follow your comparison with Kipketer, Mutola, and Rudisha. Ajee is no where near their level at this stage in her career.
"Dominating Ajee?" That would be, yes. Not beat by a little bit, not out-leaning . . . dominated. You are generous in giving Ajee credit as a 400/800 type. She would be smoked in the 400 at the elite level. She is an 800m runner . . . maybe 600/800. The 1000m should not be out of an 800m runner's comfort zone but I don't see Ajee being competitive with Mary Cain at that distance.
I would argue that Cain is more of an 800/1500 with far greater range than Ajee. I think 600m is the best matchup for the two. At 800m and above I will give the edge to Cain every time.
Cain is simply the phenom of phenoms right now. That is no slight to Wilson. You started the thread and asked the question. I have listed some factors. I don't much care that Wilson receives less attention than Cain. I still root for her to do well.
