He is doing extra workouts after running quality races.

He was doing that when Abdi made him cry like a little girl at the 2008 trials.
FAIL.
He lost credibility with me during the london olympics. They showed video of him and farah warming up for the 5k in the tunnel. In the corner Rupp taking a nice big hit of his inhaler. In fact thats when the Olympics lost credibility with me. If You can an inhalor before an Olympic 5k final for bronchodilation due to asthma, seriously whats the point?
I no longer cheer for professional athletes. Only myself because personal accomplishments are the only thing that mean anything.

I take a hit of an inhaler before I race. It helps me avoid dying.
I like Nick Symmonds publicity stunts, Nick is a bit over the top but he's cool.
That being said, I agree with most of the statement at the beginning of this thread. I'm a Rupp fan. I'm even a Salazar fan. Sure, Al is a bit OCD, but he's achieved a lot. No one says a coach has to be a perfect human being.
Whuts dat mista fwost? Gawen wupp is cwean? He's not tayking dwugs to hewlp him go fasta? Why does he wear dat mask mista fwost? And why does he not wace his fwiends who are as good as him?
Listen frosty. Not you, nor anyone else can tell me to like galen rupp. I don't. He isn't the hero we deserve or need because he's an engineered piece of running machinery. I don't care for him at all. He has stupid things that he does; his bane mask, breathe rite strip, etc. and while I understand why he does these things, I also realize that real runners would suck it up and race like they had a pair (like craig mottram would).
All in all, I feel as if Galen is a big "F-U" to all the people who ARE grinding it out without the millions of dollars of equipment and resources behind galen. Sending the signal that you can't become a great runner without having laser therapy machines, cyrosaunas, or .123124123123 lb running shoes.
You can't make me like Galen. You can't make me not thing something fishy is going on. More importantly, I don't care. I give zero $h!ts about galen for all of the reasons above. Instead, I give $h!ts about Ryan Hill, Chris Derrick, Evan Jager, Elliot Heath, etc. Because I grew up with them (Chris and Jager are from the same suburbs as I am) and I know they were out, in High School, putting in the miles without a private coach and an altitude tent. Well, evan not so much with the miles (20mi/ week lol). But the point is, don't tell me what I should think
To an outsider, you are not convincing. You sound petty and captious with your PB time chopping, snarky "it's funny" comments, parsing of post-race handshakes, lame "not to mentions," silly "averaging" of times, implications that 5K specialists can't run occasional breakthrough 1500s, and supposedly revealing "huge drops" that don't amount to much in rare events.
We all saw Rupp's progression. We don't need a lot of guidance on how it happened. We know runners make major improvements under concentrated and intense training.
You probably should get back to your fascinating and much laurelled life.

Due to the complete overload of hypocritical and ludicrous accusations and conspiracy theories being incubated on these message boards, it's time for some truth in regards to Galen.
Galen is not on any "magical potions", "special medicines", "recovery juices", etc., etc., etc. In college, he was on a thyroid medication because he had a thyroid imbalance and he took the medicine to correct the imbalance. This wasn't some corner-cutting effort to lose weight, synthesize EPO production, or mask the effects of over-training. He has been unfairly made a villain (of sorts) by the people on this board due to his once use of thyroid medication, which is pathetic because the "other" group at Nike are also all on thyroid medication, having been sent to visit Dr. Brown by their own coach. Sadly, these boys (recently likened to the Harry Potters of pro track in a blog) are more content to do the exact same methodology as some in the NOP while publicly ridiculing, alluding to potential cheating, and consuming themselves with outright jealously than speaking up about their own TUEs and furthering the cause of transparency. This should not be a surprise to anyone because during their days at Wisconsin, many from this group would spent weekend nights drunkenly prank calling Galen and morphing his name into a homophobic slur. The jealous y that by now has boiled over was already simmering back then. Remember when Chris Solinsky tried to put his arm in front of Galen to block him from passing him at the line at the 2007 Oregon Twilight? There was a reason behind this type of behavior and, sadly, not much has changed since then. It is completely misleading for only one side of this story to be carried by this site and further blown out of proportion by the knowledge-less on these message boards. Here we are clamoring for American relevancy at the word stage in this sport and, once we have it, we dismiss it as something that isn't real. The problem with this sport in our country used to be that we didn't work hard enough. Now, it is the fact that we dismiss hard work and results as not honest. When Chris Solinsky ran 26:59 at Stanford in 2010, no one was denouncing his achievement as a result of altitude tents, Nike facilities, and synthetic thyroid. Why then do we have a double standard when it comes to Galen?
Perhaps the most unfortunate aspect of this campaign of lies and bias is that Galen, as an individual, is overlooked. People here are quick to applaud Nick Symmonds' many sleazy publicity stunts yet could care less about the guy who keeps his head down, works hard, and gets it done. Galen is the perfect ambassador for this sport. There is nothing scandalous about him.
TLDR.
Rupp's DNFs:
2010 Stockholm DL 5,000 - DNF
2011 Eugene DL 10,000 - DNS (warmed up, checked in!)
2011 Monaco DL 5,000 - DNF
2012 Lausanne DL 1500 - DNF
2013 Occidental 5,000 - DNF
2014 NB Indoor Games mile - DNF
only read page 1.
jack frost=a duck
solinsky was not at the 10k final in london, teg was so its not hard to figure out which schumacher guy saw the adrenaline shots. do you really think farah/rupp did the injection themselves before the biggest race of their career? team doctors administered them. if salazar is willing to give them adrenaline in their neck before the race what else is he willing to do?

One/year... wow! I'm stunned. Throughout the history of our sport, some choose to rarely, if ever, drop out, some, like Rupp, might have 1/year, others, like Manzano, drop out more often. What exactly is your point?
Where are the World or Olympic DNFs? USAs DNFs?
Rupp is a great runner but other than the fact that he's fast Rupp is unlikeable in every sense of the word. Same goes for Ryan Hall (not to mention the DNFs). I don't think it's an absolute certainty that Rupp is a doper but I do acknowledge the possibility.
Some Americans (myself included) just have to keep wondering why all of our fastest runners (Symmonds and a few others being the exception) are complete twats? Not to harp on classic Pre-fanboy bs but let's admit that the dude was an actually cool and relatable guy along with many others back in the day, and not a dweeb like Rupp who quits races and has no public presence beyond a handful of Flotrack videos.

This is exactly what I am talking about. You don't "think it's an absolute certainty" that he is using PEDs, but you think it's a possibility when you have absolutely no reason to think so. It's like everyone on this board came up with some half-assed hypothesis with no reasoning. He was the most tested US athlete in 2013 and lives in the era of the biological passport. I just don't know how the accusers reconcile with this reality.

Also, Mr. Know: the only fellow athlete of Galen who has more medals than him, is Mo Farah. There isn't any other current Western distance runner more decorated than these two.
???
Mr. Know never said he was from a Western country. Just because he can type in English, does not mean he is from a Western nation. Might want to think things through before attacking his personal credentials...
I shouldn't speak for Frosty, but I don't think those countering the Rupp-hate are asking people to like him. To each his own. My issue is no one has been under the microscope more than Rupp and much of the criticism is without warrant. His personality isn't like some of the others, but so what. The poor guy has been ridiculed since HS (GAYlen Rupp - remember the constant gay jokes?). It's no wonder he doesn't do a lot of interviews. Everything he does is criticized.
It's comical to hear you bitch about Rupp being a machine. Do you really think he doesn't "grind" out the miles? Maybe they're not using cyrosaunas, but you don't think Schumacher's group is taking advantage of Nike resources?! What planet our you living on? Your boy Mottram had special training shoes built by Nike. Does Mottram not have the big pair that you think? Is he now not a real runner?
In HS, Salazar was helping coach at Central Catholic when he spotted Rupp on the soccer pitch. Yes, a long-term relationship began, but don't twist facts for your great storyline. Seb Coe's father coached him for years. Do you resent his success too?
"This is coming from somebody who is a fellow athlete of Rupps and has more medals than Rupp has so it's something that us IN the track game no very well."
He's clearly from the US. I didn't attack his personal credentials. I dismissed them. I went through the start list to the NBIG and did not find any athlete in any event that fit the description he boasted of.

Jack Frost you sir have your head in the sand more than anybody I've ever heard concerning Galen Rupp. You clearly are not heavy into the sport and know how things work. Let me fill you in a bit. People don't ridicule Rupp because of the times he runs.. People Ridicule him because of how he runs the times and WHEN he runs the times. Not to mention when you have an entire group having a resurgence like the NOP then it raises the big Red Flags IE the Chinese in the 90's and the East Germans in the 70's and 80's. Galen Rupp and the NOP are no different than Usain Bolts camp down in Jamaica. All of a sudden you have a bunch of guys running times that were not progressed to, but just came out of the blue. Galen Rupp has been a known 5k/10k guy since he was in highschool and now all of a sudden he is running 3:50 Indoor miles and talking about going for the WR in an event that isn't even his specialty. On that same note Mo Farah is the same way. You don't just drop a 3:28 1500m out of the blue when your previous PB was 3:34 and you hadn't ran the distance in a few years.. Treniere Moser was talking retirement before Nike said for her to go to NOP and now all of a sudden she is running seconds faster than her previous PB's. So you see it's not just Galen that people question and criticize it's the whole camp. The reason Galen gets so much flack is cause he gets so much publicity. This is coming from somebody who is a fellow athlete of Rupps and has more medals than Rupp has so it's something that us IN the track game no very well.
