Dubai marathon results list him as American. I'm assuming that's a mistake and he's moroccan:

Let me know if he's American as he just ran 2:09:11

looks like he ran the 2nd half in 59 and change... seem a little suspicious to anyone else?
he's the little brother to the guy who won bay to breakers a few years back. I know he's lived in the US for some time, but not sure how he would get citizenship unless he's been here what, at least 7 years? can't imagine he's been here that long. btw, he was always a 30min guy to the best of my knowledge- food for thought. wonder who his agent is?

His brother, Ridouane, used to be a mainstay on the US road scene.
Not promising that two of the Athletes he follows on FB are Mourhit and Goumri...

It does, given his past results are 64:xx and 32:xx at Bolder Boulder...
Sometimes those country identifiers are based on the address you put in, not your actual nationality. I've had the wrong country put next to my name in online results before.
faulty timing equip, pretty sure he was with the lead pack at least close to halfway, then let the wheels come off. still, pretty damn good for a guy who would regulary run 30min 10k's.

Hah...
So is he a citizen or not?
Last 12.2k at 4:07 minutes/mile pace.
That's legit.
There's something off about Dubai...
He is not American. I believe his agent is American..,
Might be. Who is his agent anyway? It could also be that he provided a US address on the registration form.

AllAthletes.com has him listed as from Morocco.
http://www.all-athletics.com/de/node/58624Stats show him with a half marathon PR of 1:04:55 in 2009, Austin Texas.
The Dubai site shows his splits are 1:09:15 for the first half and 59:56 for the second half. Something isn't right.
I looked at Aissa Dghoughi's splits (17th place, 2:13:35, also from Morocco, living in US, and listed as American in the Dubai race). Splits were identical through the half marathon. Either they ran together for a while or the timing process somehow got them mixed up on the course.
Since the posted results haven't changed as of now I'll go with the explanation that Harroufi was with the learders much of the race, ran out of gas at the end, and his splits were some kind of timing error.

"MONTE CARLO: IAAF informed about the case of 25-years old Morrocan runner Aissa Dghoughi. He refused to submit his control sample in out of competition procedure late July last year in St. Moritz, Switzerland. For that he got 3 years ban which will end on December 27, 2009. His bests are 13:39.92 at 5000 m back in 2002 and last year a very solid half marathon 61:27 from Paris. He was also 20th at last years World CC Championships in Japan at 12 km distance."
Their chips ran together for a while. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
"his splits were some kind of timing error"
Yeah, that's the ticket.
It was some kind of mal' function.
Look at the pace for the last 12.195km !!!
It's a pace of 25'35'' on 10km...
There is really a mistake !!!

Fred, I'm not following you. What does what you quote from 2006 have to do with the Dubai marathon in 2014?
