Notre dame is looking for a distance coach.
Notre dame is looking for a distance coach.
Jon Stuart to Southern Miss...very good hire

My hope and guess is that Idaho's new XC/Distance coach will be Pat McCurry, but I really don't have any inside knowledge of it.
Maybe. I heard that Pat was a runner up for the U of I head position. I think it would be harder for him to take the assistant position. Posting is listed as $45,000. I wonder if that would be a step up or down from pay at College of Idaho.
Probably sameish. College of Idaho is private, but they don't have that much to throw into head coaches salaries. What big changes has Pat had in his life?
Yup, very good coach. Heres the release.

Nobody said Pat had big changes. Those were two separate discussions and wishful thinking on my part that Pat would be the new XC coach.
Not hiring...Internal promotion of PTC.

Turner already has his distance coach.
Piane will be missed.
Joe Piane is one the finest men I've ever met. He is and was a true class act and a credit to Notre Dame.
I'm sure the Irish will make a great hire to lead the distance squad.
Not hiring...internal promotion of PTC sprints.

Oh, in that case there is another coach with Idaho ties that has had a busy life recently and who has had a big change in his life. Guess he got tired of the big city.

Already has his coach huh? Then why haven't the athletes on his team heard about it?
I agree - I am not sure what was up with all the Piane bashing a few posts back. I coached against Joe for 20 years and ran teams at many of Notre Dames' xc and track meets. Coach Piane was always a class act - definitely old school and not one to suffer fools so that might explain some of the bruised egos dissing on him around here.
I love how people on this message board put out false statements sometimes. I posted that Notre Dame needs a distance coach...because I know personally. So, for those that are distance coaches looking for a position, it would be in your best interest to contact Coach Turner. If you aren't a distance coach then this wouldn't apply to you. Let's leave the Coach Paine hatred out of this thread bc he's a class act and had a lot of success.

All anyone has to do is watch the interview with Coach Turner and he says it out loud that he is hiring a distance coach. No rumor, just fact
The new ND head guy has to actually hire two distance coaches unless he keeps the young guy. Only Coach Tim has been removed from the job.

Naturally he's a great guy. The guy was a Loras Duhawk, as was the coach who hired him, and the AD at ND now. Maybe they should hire someone from Piane's alma mater...
I've been rather disappointed in this thread this summer. I mean, yah it's 99 pages, but I feel like new news is trickling out only every few days. Surely, there's more info out there to be shared! On a positive note, at least it seems like there's been less bashing this summer, which is always nice.
Ursinus higher a done deal. Announcement soon.
any hints?
