I think my days of setting PRs are over but I'd like to continue to do the occasional race (10k to 1/2 marathon) now and then. What do you think a typical week should look like given that I'm not following a periodization type training. I'm thinking of just repeating the same type of runs each week. For instance,
M, F - Easy recovery
Tues - 10 mile easy
Wed - 10-13 miles progression
Thur - 10 miles easy
Sat - 8-10 miles w/ hill sprints at end
Sun 14-16 miles
What's the best way to incorporate tempo, long intervals, hills. fartleks, etc.. into training? Instead of the 1 week repeats, is it better to structure 2 week training cycle with the 3rd week being a down week?
