Good for you. I personally get no perceived benefit from stretching before I run. But each to his own.
I get no benefit and have at times found it to be detrimental. On the plus side though, as long as I start my warmup routine 30 minutes before a race, I'm ready to go.
My form feels better on the rare occasions I do drills before a run.
THANK YOU! I'm happy it is too and I hope everyone's running is going well.

after sitting 8+ hours you are stiff as wood, of course you would benefits with some stretching, only crazy people would think otherwise

Therefore Hardloper is a crazy person.
But we knew this already ;D
Stretching before one of your training runs doesn't hurt, but if you are going into a race it can decease your performance. Stretching is basically micro-tearing your muscles and you need time for them to repair before you race. I would stick to drills and strides only before a race and keep stretching in your training regime.
You are welcome good grief.! I hope they are good and loose now.
SSJ3 Goku I honestly don't think stretching will hinder your performance at all. Stretching will either help you to be loose or won't help at all. I find it helpful because it's part of my routine and my legs feel ready to go after I stretch and do some drills. If you find credible sources that show stretching actually hinders performance then I will rethink. Good day to you sir!

A bit of Viagra and I'm stiff as wood in under an hour.

I focus on PNF stretching around the hip... therefore your hip mobility can be increases and result in a more fluid stride.

Actually streching before does hurt running performance. Google it and you will find out. Warm ups are important though.
