have a story angle/idea for you. A recent poster, (cannot remember whether it was here at "letsrundownjeffgalloway.com" or over at "Green Acres")had an opinion about Dick Beardsley's recent biography.
The poster felt that Dickie's emotional side, where he broke down and cried alot at different circumstances throughout his life, was "weird."
I believe that this emotional side is what makes great athletes. Everyone is so concerned with what training to do, this is simple, or what "svengali, guru coach" to follow, this makes little difference.
My theory is that Alberto's trash talking before Boston 82, tapped into Dick Beardsley's emotional side and led to one of the greatest Boston marathons ever.
The Beardsley book is "saccharine" as is Joan Benoit's biography and so many others. Someone please give us a great Bio. to read with the important story to rev up the masses.
Maybe Toni Reavis, Tom Dederian, HST, HRE, malmo (watch out) Scott Douglas, are you listening Chris Lear?
