I have no desire to join a gym because getting there and home consumes time and I feel the added benefits simply aren't worth the money/effort. However, I plan to get a weight bench soon and a set of free weights. I'm hoping for people here to recommend some lifting routines.
Basically, my goal is to have a routine that helps maintain running fitness while also building moderate upper body strength, while also helping with injury prevention. I plan to lift 3 times a week. My long term goal is to set a PR in the 800 in about a year and a half. So I guess a routine designed for middle distance runners is probably best.
