So I've recently come to the conclusion that my weak leggedness that has been plaguing my running for the past year is due to my glutes that are either weak or not firing. I gave the problem a google search and found a training plan that so far has been working to my advantage.
However, I'm dealing with an extremely annoying glute imbalance. The right glute is contracting and when I push my hand into it, there is a very clear indentation formed by the contracting glute. I seem to get more of a response when I contract the right glute muscle as opposed to my left one. During runs my right leg feels a bit stronger than my left one.
I've resorted to stressing the exercises in my left leg more thoroughly and have fond additional exercises to compensate for the loss of contraction. I've been doing these for a couple of days, but have not really had any luck.
Does anyone have any tips regarding the lack of contraction in one glute? How long does it take to reactive the glute so muscle contractions feel even across both glutes?
Any constructive input is appreciated. Thanks.
