You have the right, no doubt, to voice your opinion. But don't be surprised if people think you're the idiot for thinking you know better.
Actually, a local High school baseball coach who gives training sessions has studied Albert Pujols's swing and his the load, weight transfer, and all that jazz lead to success. A major league player (andre torres) who was struggling in the majors got in contact with him and had his best year (2011?) when this HS coach helped him out. I read about it in SI, I believe.
You don't have to know how to do it to teach people. Do you hate on major league coaches that were just minor leaguers? Or on exercise physiologists that write influential running books?
"I have known and worked with Andres Torres since the Spring of 2008.[1] My relationship with Andres Torres was discussed in a si.com piece in 2010. We last talked in person in January 2012 when I flew out to Arizona to work with Andres on his swing and help him get ready for the 2012 season.
Getting to Know Andres
Andres first called me in late May of 2008, a few weeks into his AAA season with the Cubs. I'm not sure exactly when or why the lightbulb went off, but at some point prior to then he realized that what he was doing at the plate -- which was trying to be another Ichiro and slapping the ball into the ground and trying to beat out the throw -- wasn't working at the major league level.
He had to try something different.
In four seasons, Andres struggled to hit better than .210 and he knew that he was going to be out of baseball if he didn't improve his hitting. As a result, he started to learn everything he could about hitting and began studying the swings of the best players in the game.
Andres decided that one thing he needed to understand was what Albert Pujols did and why. That was logical, since Pujols is one of the best all-around hitters in baseball. While doing that research, Andres came across my photos of Albert Pujols and, in particular, one of my flipbook analyses of the swing of Albert Pujols.[2]"

Doesn't matter who says it, its correct. She races like a fool.

(lots of stuff indicating that Cal is a world class educational institution)
Did you go to Cal? If you did I would offer you as exhibit #1.
Please try to learn the difference between:
1) A world class educational institution
and
2) An educational institution that never has any morons attend
By the way, I did my graduate work at Cal. Great place. Interesting as hell. And tons of very smart folks. I also met quite a few morons while I was there.
Also went to Cal and can confirm there are plenty of idiots enrolled. Athletes make up a good bunch of them, but there are others too. Aside from the athletes, I have no idea how they all got through the admissions process.
This is hilarious. Cici runner is a real clown. Montano exercised poor judgment in response, but she exercises poor judgment with that fast first 200, and everybody except herself knows it. i mean you can win in the 800 leading from the front, as guys like Rudisha has proven, but taking the first 200 out at breakneck speed is always a recipe for disaster.
I would agree with Chris on the Moscow performance she ran a very elementary race. She gets paid to run and looked like a complete moron running wide and finishing in lane 5 but nearly even lane 6, I mean did she go out bar hopping before the 800m and her equilibrium was that messed up? My thoughts are if you are going to run a Golden League race and loose the race because of rookie tactics expect to get dished on a bit. I battled it my entire running career and look back on it and laugh. She needs to have more of a sense of humor and not take things so personnel as well.

people actually make videos of themselves getting ready for races and how long it will take to drive there and drink Gatorade and "chill" and run a 1:20 half-marathon?
Holy fock, how self-involved and self-obsessed have Americans become?
Did he really say he was "trying to find his alpha"?

It's so sad that just because he happens to have a slower time in the 800, he's getting attacked, because he doesn't have the credibility to be criticizing a professional female runner. MANY(male) high school runners, Myself included, have PRS under 1:58.. I would give anything to have said that instead of him, because then I wouldn't be receiving as much hate focused around my PRs, and I probably would have said it if he didn't. I don't see what the big deal is here, her tactics ARE CRAP, and it doesn't take somebody who has faster PRs than her to see that. He did nothing wrong, IT IS JUST BLATANTLY OBVIOUS.
What is so sad , anal pore ?
OK, I just watched beyond the fist 3 minutes that you were talking about all that stuff that nobody in the world wants to know, and saw you race.
1) Son, you are a chunky kid.
2) you don't get shin splints in the middle of a race.
3) If you lost 20lbs you would at least be at the level of the better women your age ... about 1:12 for the half-marathon. But you still should not criticize the elite runners, you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.
4) You are a typical Letsrun American douche punk kid, thinking that the world needs to see your 1:20 half-marathon and your thoughts on it. F-you, nobody cares.
Symmonds recognized his kick at the end of the 800 was no longer getting it done when beginning it so far back. What worked in college did not work against the top pros. So he changed his strategy.
Montano runs weak 200 meter splits for her final 400. Whether she wants to change that and, if so, how she does it is up to her. Since she runs an unusually fast first 200 and first 400, Montano knows how to immediately address the weak part of her race. Granted, there would be a tradeoff. Would it be a net plus, net minus or a wash? She will not know unless she tries it.
The buck stops with Montano and her coach. The rest of us are bystanders.

Yeah? You've watched all of his races? There was never a race Pre ran where he took off and got a 10-20m lead in the first lap or two, leading others to wonder "what the hell is he doing?"
Hahaha. People said that about Pre all the time.
Pre NEVER lost a track race in college at any distance over a mile in 4 yrs. Think about that.
He also ran a 3:54 mile while in college, when the WR was 3:51.
Pre was not much of a positive splitter. He took the lead a lot, and he went out in a "hard" pace, but that was all relative. When you won every 3k, 2mi, 3mi, 5k, 6mi and 10k you ever ran for four yrs it would probably seem like you are running too hard to all the others. He also never died in the last 100m and lost the race. Even in his Olympic race in Munich, he was already behind in third with 50m to go, he was maintaining his pace OK, then Stewart BOLTED past in the last 10m, wehn he saw that he staggered a little but even then he was goin gOK, Stewart was BLAZING.
I have no dog in this fight and don't care what you guys think about AM or this 20 yr-old clown that posts YT videos of himself. I just don't think somebody should use Pre as an example in the wrong way. Or anyone for that matter.
Agree. For every poster to LRC who complains about Alysia's ambitions in the 800, there are 50 complaining about the craven "sit and kick" tactics of US runners in the 1500, 5000, 10000. One day she'll get through 800 without tieing up at the end and it will be a marvel to behold.
In this video he runs a 2 mile on the track and dies after going out in 67 LMFAO!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that she does NOT know how to do that.
Now that the goofballs have migrated to this thread, I'll mention the fact that 27 flat is not an unusual start for an elite women's 800.

I watched a few of cicirunners siht on youtube. What a tool?! A pathetic existence. But I do agree AM races like she has the brains of an earthworm.
Creepy, what a messed up country that puts a gun in this guy's hand.
Her strategy is fine but execution poor, she definitely should've medalled but the other 2 were too good.
She was over racing the 2nd 100m, either that's a practise problem or she was over excited and lost her head, either way she needed to be more relaxed by the 200m mark.
Apart from that nobody should ever do the work then let someone sneak up the inside. When in the lead and faltering I'll drift half a lane out and show the inside before covering, either way they have to work bloody hard to get by me, it's my right as the race aggressor.
It kills me to say this, but the creep is definitely entitled to his opinion regardless of his ability. If she doesn't want to listen she should avoid social media. Anyway, stay safe and don't enter his basement EVER!
I think she went out too hard the FIRST 100-25 meters at Moscow due to excess nerves, should have went out for 40-45 meters and then settled down. She would also benefit from bringing her 1500 time way down.
I'm not saying cicirunner is all that but Vigil, Daniels, Gags, Elliot were not even runners so that argument about PRs translating to knowledge is BS and shows your ignorance.
Not sure why she drifted to lane five in that last race, I think she is mentally done for the season and needs to regroup and at least consider a tweak or two to her training and race strategy.
She's a bright young lady...maybe a head case right now, but she's clearly not stupid. All of the Cal - moron comments are uncalled for. Criticizing her race might not be.
