Wang Junxia is by far the greatest woman runner of all time.
Not that it would have made a difference in your opinion of her.
Right, J.R.?

Did Wang Junxia ever fail a drug test?
From all accounts, she never took a drug test.
Yeah, they even said it on commentary right infront of Radcliffe, I guess she has improved her 10k WR by almost 10 seconds.. I wonder if she could get close to or beat 2:15.25 when she moves to Marathon.....
Who is the blonde brit gal anchoring on the BBC feed?
Gabby Logan
Wang Junxia could never lap Tirunesh Dibaba. At her doped best she might beat her, but I doubt that. Dibaba would draft off of her for 23 laps and then kick away.

Correct. Defar and dibaba have never really tested themselves. If they raced with men at their best sub 14 and 29 flat would roughly be possible.
Guys she never failed a drug test and look at her legs if dibaba was 5'10 she'd be sub 29. Long live usain bolt

BBC just called Dibaba the greatest distance runner of all times. Lets not wet our pants and forget that Wang Junxia ran over a minute faster than her tonight. It is easy to win WC when there is no real competition.
Already determined in a previous thread that in those "WR" performances they were starting from incorrect places on the track. Wang Junxia did not cover 10,000m 29:31.
No...that was never determined. It is one of the most ridiculous conspiracies I have ever heard actually. There were IAAF officials at the meet who have stated that they checked the distances and everything was correct.

When Junxia won the 93 World Championships she ran the last 5 laps in 70, 70, 68, 68 and 61 seconds. Good luck drafting off that.
Dibaba and Defar would destroy Junxia.

Did you watch Beijing Olympics 10k? Abeylegesse ran laps 19-24 in 69, 70, 69, 71, 71 in 29:53 race and then Dibaba easily outkicked her with 60 last lap.

The video footage provides pretty compelling evidence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuOSbU4N-AEThey split 300m in 42 is 14s 100m aka 56s quarter pace, which ought to be pretty damn near, maybe just slightly slower, that what these women are capable of for 400m. Then they are following that by running 3:56 1500m pace.
The male equivalent would thus be something like 36 for the first 300, then next 1200 in 2:44 (if you wanted to shatter the mens record by 5s which is what happened in the Chinese race) or 2:50 last 1200 if you were looking to end at Hicham's record. 2:44.5 is 3:24 1500m pace.
Seems pretty implausible to me.

why would you post a video and claim it "provides pretty compelling evidence" when it doesn't provide any evidence at all -- just a few clips from a race?

It shows them coming through 300m in 42 seconds or just slightly faster, which is what I was discussin: The plausability of the split.
It's not, as I see it, 100% impossible, but it's pretty questionable. You are talking about opening up with 300 meters at somewhere between 400 and 800m pace, then running the remaining 1200m @ 3:56 1500m pace.
I'm not sure if I would say that is totally impossible, but it certainly doesn't seem likely. It would also indicate that she could have gone significantly faster in a more sane race.
Liu Dong ran 1:56 the last 800m to win the 1993 Stuttgart WC 1500m, so could easily run 42 seconds to start a 1500m race, plus she was po'd because Ma wouldn't let her chase the record herself, due a violation of one of his rules.
Watch how she puts down the hammer.
Whoops this is the 1500m video.

She crushed it there, but I ddn't get 1:56 for 800m. I had her through 700m, with two laps to go, in just a smidge over 2:00 to go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY3qHznwxB0&feature=player_detailpage&t=324). Finishing time of 4:00.51 makes for a low 2:00 800.
The male equivalent of this would be roughly a guy opening his race in 37-38, then the next 1200m in 2:48 (3:29 1500m pace).

Impossible. They didn't have some local in house company working timing. They had Omega there, the same team that times the Olympics.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
