The guy could make some serious dough and be a world champ in cross fit. That is if he doesn't die from all the PEDs he was taking from high school through his early career.

I didn't time the rest, but I'd guess no more than 60-90 seconds. I didn't have much time to reset my watch. He looked tough, was laughing a lot in between, joking with some guy who was coaching or timing.
No more jokes about Alan Webb, please.
Okay, that was a joke, too.
Serious prediction: 13:36, just ahead of Rupp's high school time.

You didn't have time to reset your watch? Seriously? You didn't have time to do something that takes about 1 second to do?
He's already run 13:37 and 13:46 this year and has a bit more fitness under his belt. I'd like to see him at least dip under 13:30 and I don't think 13:25 would be a stretch.
Webb will PR slightly but will be gapped by the leaders. 13:08 at least though.
2 weeks before Webb ran 27:34, he ran 10 * 1000 in 2:30-2:32 with 60 seconds rest between reps.
Webb's said in his career that good years can often be in large part to the prior year's training. He's in a good group & lots of fast races now. Go the course best as he can this year & see if he really can improve a lot next year.
But a 13:37, 3:42 year to this point, while not to standard, is not reason to stop in a sport he obviously loves.
I heard there was a 60 second eat-rest. Taco Bell catered the workout.
To people asking why letsrun talks about Webb so much, it's because he's the AR holder, and then to a lesser degree because of his High School record. I guarantee that if someone else broke his American Record in the mile, then 75% of the Alan MF Webb posts would stop, and if someone then broke his High School record, the other 25% would stop. The other things about Webb aren't necessarily unique to him but these two things are what set him apart. Until somebody runs 3:45 or 3:52 in high school, people will keep talking about Webb and making all the Webb threads that they do.

Any proof of this? Hard to people doing this workout at what is essentially 3k pace...
You people are idiots.
If Webb breaks 13:30 I'll sh!t my pants.[/quote]
You're being too nice. If he breaks 13:45 I'll be amazed...
You can't be serious...Alan Webb would not even make the regional champs at crossfit.
Webb has a new advisor and is primed to run a pr:

There is no money outside of expenses like group travel ( bus or charter plane) , hotel and meals for these guys at the level they are racing at. They may get a bonus offer for time/place. Possible rabbit work as well that pays.
They are b level runners at this stage in their careers.
Meet directors don't care about training groups , they build the field off the specific race and how athletes may complement the stars to fill out the field.
Chris can make far more money in road racing that have prize purses and stay domestic in the US.
How many of those guys receive 1/10 the attention Webb does?

He was doing 1000m repeats, of which I saw three. I timed him and he ran 2:34, 2:36, 2:32. After that he took a lap and ran some 200s at around 29 seconds.
If he did more than a small number of those, that's like 13:00 fit.
13:45, but he'll throw in a 10.9 100m surge juuuust after 2500m
