Sub 11 is definitely NOT common for world-class 800m. As we all know, Symmonds wouldn't break 12 out of blocks.

He was also a decent cross country runner the last two years. His first year was not well, but this past cross country season he really blossomed for a former 400h and current 800 runner. Athletes can do anything when they put their mind to it.
Felix Sanchez:
100m: 10.45
200m: 20.87
400m: 44.90
400H: 47.25
800M: 1:48.99
2012 SB:
400m: 45.34
400h: 47.63
800: 1.48.99
Probably he could have run 1:47.xx in his 20.8/47low/44high 200m/400m/400m hurdles shape in early 00's.
Ventolin...can you give us the eventual lines for Felix...from 100m to 800m at his peak?
Shouldn't sprintgeezer be here claiming Johnson can't break 11 now?
Ahh, the old Letsrun canard:
"Sprinters don't really train hard"
Just get some sprint guys and have them do long runs and hard work like 10k guys they'd be good at distance running.
How come no one ever wants a distance guy to move down?
i know a guy who was a 1:55 800m runner in high school. came to college and moved down to the 100m/200m. ended up running 10.25 and 20.68.
i know another guy who was 1:54 800m runner as a junior in high school. quit track senior year and decided to get back into it in college. became a 6'8.5" high jumper and a 48.x 400m runner.
sometimes athletes do move down...
Is this the Brandon Johnson that just got last at the olympic trials? If you look at his splits, he ran and finished heroically, props to Brandon. Perhaps fast 100/200 guy to ever compete in the marathon trials

Different people. There’s at least 3 elite level Brandon Johnson’s in track.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
