So I'm going into my sophomore year at a pretty good D1 school. I'm kind of buried on the 800n depth chart, and I really want a break out season. My high school PR were 49/50 for 400m relay splits 1:54.5 for the 800, 2:33 for the 100, and 4:26 for the mile. At the end of junior year my open 800 PR was 159 and relay PR was 157- so I had some pretty good improvement senior year when I focused on mileage (probably about 40 a week).
This season in college I went 1:53.7 in indoor after getting a horrible feaver that lasted like two weeks. Then after that I was outta my element, my confidence was killed, and I had some lingering injuries, and I hardly finished workouts (usually did about 2/3) and was a 4:02 PR for the 1500 (only ran it a couple times but it was taxing on my arms and aerobically) and ran a couple mid 1:54 800s.
The summer before entering college I probaby got up to around 40 MPW- maybe a little bit more. For the first month or two I was probably at 35-40 miles, and then after October Id say I got down to 30-35 miles. Christmas break was rough with snow and solo workouts, and then with getting sick in Feburary my mileage was low, and then for outdoor Id say 30ish was my max.
I guess if I apply myself I have potential. I jus relly want a good season and would like any advice. Right now I'm doing 40 MPW and I'm going to up it to 45 and then 50 (usually go 6:45ish pace on my own). I'm doing some upper body strength and squats/deadlifts/regular core.
Is there any advice that anyone has? I guess I'm kinda stressing out because I really want a good season.
