First, I want to say how much I appreciate the fact that Runnerspace attempted to offer a live web feed of the meet. But tonight's debacle is yet another example of a sport that is mismanaged and doesn't understand the appetite of its fans.
Runnerspace simply wasn't equiped to handle the demand on the feed. Thanks goodness livestream was available. But it's no excuse. The IAAF, USATF and the meet itself cannot make a promise and not deliver. It turns off fans, it tarnishes the sports already shaky reputation and only reinforces the fact that it is second rate when it comes to offering a great product to its fan base.
We all know the sport needs a dramatic makeover if it expects to survive. Tonight is an example of a second rate organization leaving its product in the hands of amateurs. It's a shame. We deserve better, even if we have to pay for it.
