El Paso is the safest large city in the world.
El Paso is the safest large city in the world.
For more than a decade El Paso has been the safest city in the mouths of news media outlets, government officials, law enforcement agents and citizens - who are unaware that El Paso’s violent crime rate is currently higher than the national average.
In April, during the annual name reading at the Crime Victims Memorial, Mayor Cook continued to promote El Paso’s crime ranking published by the CQ Press:
“We are very proud that El Paso comes out in the top rankings on safest cities,” Cook said. “Those rankings are based on the FBI Crime Index statistics on violent crime.”
However, the FBI stopped using the Crime Index in 2004 because, “the Crime Index and the Modified Crime Index were not true indicators of the degrees of criminality.”
What are the true indicators then?
Why does El Paso manage to be so safe, with Juarez so dangerous and so close?
What would happen if the border was removed?
My brother is a detective in El Paso, it is nowhere near as safe as one would believe.
Basically any violent crime, that happen more often than one is led to believe, that have any ties to the Cartels are categorized under "homeland security" and are not considered to be part of the FBI index.
Fool yourself all you want. It is NOT the safest city in the US, much less Texas.
El Paso metro area has around 875,000 people (this is not including the people from juarez). Chicago has over 2 million people. Its still not proportionate. If it was propotionate, then El Paso would already have over 150 murders by this time of year. El Paso is just a much safer place *****Deleted************
Look at Detroit, whose numerical population is also around 800,000 or less (same as El Paso). They have had over 200 murders this year. City is loaded ***deleted*****
So at least 3 Chicagoans must have vacationed in El Paso huh?
We all know why.
