Did you run the Stockade-athon?
Thanks.

Hi, Ed:
Wondering how you're doing these days- and if you're currently training for any races.
Also, I'm finishing up the book The Ghost Runner, which is about the runner John Tarrant. Did you race against him, or did you ever meet him?
Thanks, and all the best to you.
Still injured, not sure when I will start training again. Not aware that I ever ran against John Tarrant or met him.
Ed
Hi Ed,
You're truly an inspiration to the younger runners. Should you find a moment: (1) Any recommendations on running form? (2) Do you do any form of strength training?
Thanks for taking all of these questions!

I have no coaching credentials. I have not worked on running form except to try to minimise pounding on my long runs. I don't do any strength training. I only do what seems to work for me. It may not be the best for others or even me.

Hi, Ed:
I see you had a fine 3,000 in February. How is your latest training going?
Thanks.
I had a better 3000m in March, 13:50 with which I was quite pleased considering I only started running again at Christmas after a 6 month injury layoff. Now I have a back issue which has stopped me running again, hopefully not for long.
My M65 3000m world record was beaten in the European champs now being contested.

Hope you heal quickly.
I've had R leg sciatica for two years, so I don't run anymore. Even walking is difficult.
I do gain a lot of inspiration from your efforts, though.
Hi Ed,How is your training going? Any races on the schedule this year? Thanks

I am continuing to have problems with all kinds of aches and pains, knee, hip, shoulder. I have not done much training in the last couple of months. Keep starting again then some problem comes up. Hard to say when things are going to improve and I will be able to race..
Ed
Hi, Ed:
Have things improved in the past month?
All the best to you.

Still struggling and training is up and down with little volume. I did run the 5000 in the Canadian Masters championship 10 days ago, 25:40. Consistent with the amount of training I have done. Still hoping to turn things around.
Ed.
Hi Ed,
Congratulations running 25:40 for 5k.
You continue to be a great inspiration to me.

Congrats.
Per the WMA Age-grading calculator (http://www.howardgrubb.co.uk/athletics/wmalookup06.html), that is an Age-graded 13:38, and 94.67% Age-performance.
The 13:50 3000m in March was an Age-graded 7:20.6, and 99.85% Age-performance.

You probably know the M85 WR in the marathon is 4:34:55. (gulp)
EDIT:
Sorry Mr. Whitlock, I thought you were 85 instead of 84; the above Age Grade figures can be refigured at the calculator link provided.
Hi, Ed:
Any improvement over the past couple of months?

Have continued training and have just passed 8 weeks. I am having a calf muscle tightness now which is a cause for concern, other things seem OK. I did a 5k road race at the beginning of August in 24:38, a minute improvement from 3 weeks prior. I am running a 10k this weekend assuming my calf is OK.

Very nice running.
Ed,
I had trouble with my left cal tightening up a few months ago. I could walk, but as soon as I started running (within a half mile) my calf would start tightening.
I went to a medical supply store and bought a Corflex calf sleeve...it worked.
I'm not sure if the compression sleeves they sell at running stores would work as well.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
