You are correct that Uli has not run 2:12. Not sure how you "found" that the course he ran his 2:13:56 on was measured incorrectly. That's simply not true and if you knew where he actually ran that time, you would know it was an accurate course. Interesting to see such knowledge about his time, but such lack of knowledge about where it was run.
As for David Laney, he was an incredibly strong runner in college and is one of the most gutsy racers I've had the privilege of seeing race. His win at Chuckanut didn't surprise me in the least. As long as he stays healthy, he will continue to do very well in ultras.
