Indeed. That's why we're celebrating an AR, a-holes.

Lopez Lomong is my favorite runner (ironically) so, very happy for him. I just hope he can learn to be more consistent.
And really impressed with Derrick. He's got a great future. He's in good hands at Nike to stay injury free.
So who wants to call the TOP THREE who make the USA team in the 5,000?????
Rupp
Derrick
Lagat
Lomong (can he be consistent enough to make the team again?)
The USA could be looking pretty stacked in the 5,000!
Amazing times.

1.5/10
Love what Lopez (and Derrick) is doing now...on the first day of March. Don't know if that will translate to June-August, but certainly hope so. Old Man Lagat running at the same level as well in the winter, so its going to be a real, real interesting track season...
Derrick is gonna run sub 27:00 this year...
Barely.
Can someone tell me why the photo shows everyone to be very, very close (like almost a photo finish for 2nd and 3rd place), but the results say that there were very large time gaps?! (As in 12 seconds between 2nd and 3rd place?!) What's up with that photo showing everyone finishing within 2 or 3 seconds of each other?
based on how indoor has went so far, here are some premature calls for the USA championships
10000 (in order):
Rupp; Derrick; Ritzenhein
The way Derrick has ran so far, no way he doesn't make the 10000 squad, especially that Solinsky is still trying to rebuild. Rupp is obvious and I'm sure Ritz will find a way to not lose to Tegenkamp.
5000 (in order):
Lomong; Lagat; Rupp (Derrick 4th)
Lomong will be timing a peak better this year as at least he is not experimenting with the 5000 this time. a year of experience helps a lot. Cannot count out Lagat and Rupp here and it looks like Derrick is the odd man out.
1500 (no order):
Centro; Manzano; ?????
Wild event here, recent years have shown Centro and Manzano don't care about anything before the trials, and given their current stranglehold of the 1500 they'll be looking at peaking for worlds. 3rd place will be a lot wilder this year, especially if Wheating doesn't step things up (or if Big Wave makes another breakthrough)
question, please wrote:

Looks like the wrong photo. There are 8 runners in the photo, but only 7 finishers listed in the results.
New photo above helps solve the mystery. Girma Mecheso appears twice in the photo finish image as he got lapped (by both Lopez and Derrick).
As for the spacing, it appears that for distance races the x-axis (representing time) is not continuous, otherwise the photo would be excessively long ... a close-up view presumably shows discontinuous time labels.
Interesting article about photo finish images here:

If you think you already know all about photo finishes, take a look at the following photo from the article and see if you can explain why the shadows fall in opposite directions:
