Instead of trading records with Lagat on the same weekend, 2 years in a row,
Rupp should get down to NYC this weekend and see what he is made of.

Their budget is probably spent.
They probably have a bonus clause for the AR. Galen could just bank on that.

They probably don't and even if they did it wouldn't justify him running this race for prize money only. Besides, Rupp decided against racing in Birmingham so it doesn't sound as if he needs a race this weekend.
Galen, go run where I tell you to run, whether they will pay you or not. Hop to it! Entertain me!

Confused about the entertainment industry, are we?
Yes, what our sport wants is people that care about things that happen in our sport.
People that care, follow it.
Sponsors and athletes benefit from that.
Money is actually spent on marketing into order to increase this "caring"
I don't care if you wash your ears today or not (and nobody does). You don't have any ear washing solution sponsors I assume.
I can have an opinion about what I want to see in our sport. Meet organizers actually welcome that feedback (the Internet makes their job easier as it takes some of the guessing ou of the equation-ie, I wonder which athletes people want to see).
That's it, that's all... I have no power on what Rupp will do. I can however voice my opinion and say: well, if he's ready to race, wouldn't it be great if he raced Lagat after all...

It appears that there is still much of the grown up world you just don't understand.

He proved what he was made of when he beat Lagat at the trials and won a silver medal at the Olympics. Who cares about indoor?
Friendly Reminder: Use the Report a Post Function
I guarantee you Lagat would scratch if Rupp joins.
Why didn't Lagat run the boston mile where Rupp went 3:50.9?
