Our monarchy incredibly dull?
Maybe, but the recent Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge ( and baby Prince George) seemed to have been a great success and I am sure if they similarly toured the USA , you Yanks would be fighting over tickets to all the functions they would attend.
At least, they don’t cost us much - your president seems to have gone completely off the charts with his ostentatious extravagance.
His recent one day trip to Brussels to visit NATO - Air Force One, three cargo planes, a 900 strong entourage and a 45 vehicle convoy?
For a 24 hour visit?
But that’s nothing compared to the ‘First Lady’s’ expenses.
First Lady? - what was she before she met Obama - a waitress?
Anyway, on her trip to Ireland accompanying the president on a meeting with Northern Ireland youth, she was off with her two children to Dublin, a mere hundred miles away, but on Air Force Two!
The cost of her two days in Dublin was costed at around $7,921,638.66.
Our Royal Family around for a year costs taxpayers £3,101,771 (that's the Queen, princes, dukes, the lot).
Three million quid plus change works out to about $5,194,347.37.
In other words, for the cost of two days in Dublin with three members of the Obama family you can keep our entire House of Windsor in the air for a year.
Now I read that the presidential fleet of 23 helicopters are to be replaced, costing $20 billion!
$20 billion for 23 choppers?
Doesn’t the president know that America has a national debt of 17 and a half trillion dollars, the greatest national debt in the history of the world?
