I've been running on my own for a couple of years, and have worked up to running 4-5 miles 5-6 days per week. This year, also my senior year of high school, I decided to join winter and spring track. However, I've found that I enjoy running for distance more than I do running for speed. I like running, but I don't particularly care how fast I go. What I care about is the distance, which I would like to start building up. Thing is, the longest we run in track is about 40 minutes, and that's only once a week, if that often.
So, should I continue track, even though I don't particularly enjoy racing, though I do love running? Or should I quit, and build miles on my own?
