ran track last year my mile PR was 4:55 800:2:12. I basically ran 70 miles a week all summer, 2 week at 92 then had my worst race at semi-state and lost my varisty spot I had all year and didn't get to run on my team that got 15th at state. My goal since I started to train hard was to break 17 and I still haven't gotten over the disappointment and embarrassment of not running at state. I AM NOT going to lose to all the kids on my team running at max 35 miles a week this winter. I hit 77miles this week (tonight ran 17.8 miles with last mile at 5:50)
Sorry for the rant, basically can I run 2:03, 4:38, 9:59 this season? My coach keeps telling me just base miles and striders and doesn't like that I run so much. We have a 1:57,1:59 and 2:02 guy and i want to be on the 4x8 but havn't shown speed? should I try and train for that to help my team? we have lots of guys at 2:07 too I'm not really sure what i could be good at this point. I would do anything at this point to be on the 4x800 with my 2 best friends who are extremely naturally talented and dont train much
