I'm thinking about a career change. My current job is running related and something I really love doing. However, the pay isn't very good and there isn't much potential for increase. I have a family and the financial obligations are obviously pretty great with kids. I have a very strong lead and pending offer for a job in a completely different field that would double my salary immediately and have potential for even more growth (6 figure salary within a few years).
I'm torn between the job I love but low pay and the job I with high pay. I've never done what the new job entails so I don't know if I will like it or not. My head tells me to take the money and provide as much as possible for my family. My heart tells me to keep my current position. We don't struggle financially, but we could definitely use the extra income now and in the future.
Anybody else ever make a decision like this before? This would not be something that could be reversed a couple years down the road if I didn't like the new job. It would be a never go back type of situation.
