I honestly agree. I'm wondering what's going through the Rhodes Scholarship Committee's minds when they pull prospective students from their prior commitments like they're somehow lesser.
Let me paraphrase the RSC's line of thinking for a moment:
"We love the fact Miles is one of the highest achieving student-athletes in the NCAA. Let's just pull him away from the most important competition in his career so we can further screen him and see if he's worthy"
This doesn't make any sense. It's down-right disrespectful to our own Academic/Athletic system that we have here in the US, and I take personal offence as an American that some snooty, crooked teeth, earl grey drinkers can come here and tell us to drop everything in our lives or else he or she is not worthy.
Surely there are US equivalents that are just as if not more prestigious?
