Let me if this goes down. I'll be on site and ready to spit on the runners.

No I do have a problem with your ignorance to this whole situation.
Tell me exactly what you have done to help with the relief efforts. Will you be part of the Run to Staten Island tomorrow with four bags full of supplies.
You have no right to call someone out for trying to do a good thing for others. People have committed time, hours, lives for a race.
If they would like to go to central park, run laps, not impede any efforts in the recovery effort. Then that is there American right.
Runner's should not be a target of this.
You are so cool for doing this; if I weren't going home early, I would totally run your race. I hope you advertised it on Facebook because there are going to be a billion foreign runners in Central Park tomorrow who probably wouldn't read Let's Run. I ran through Central Park this morning; it's back to normal and will be perfect for your race. Best of luck!

Awesome response. Lets organize a "spit on runners" event! I'll personally finance it!

If someone intentionally spits on me, regardless of if I am walking, running, or skipping, I will punch that person in the face every single time.

What are you talking about? I just ran through Central Park and the finish line at TOTG is barricaded because they are doing breakdown of the stands, scaffolding, etc.... You have to do a slight detour around it onto the bridle path, and this will be a little cumbersome with a large group.
one option, for those for whom it's an option, would be to go to Santa Barbara next weekend for the SBIM. Steeply discounted entry for any NYC runners who'd like to sign up. beautiful city, lovely certified course ends at the beach.

You will know instantly the mistake you made.
Has it crossed anybody's mind that the NY Post smeared the marathon & Bloomberg because the day earlier he endorsed Obama? Isn't NY Post a News Corp product? Aren't they 100% GOP supporters? Is this the media creating the news, "inciting" public opinion? Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave. Emil Zatopek went to prison for his political beliefs even after being a gold medalist. You have to wonder how democracy is working out for us in North America. Hurricane Sandy, though forceful, is a considerably smaller disaster than many we have witnessed globally in the last decade - but it was painfully close to a Presidential election.
You can still run the race and provide help to the needy. I've been doing it for years regardless of whether there was a natural disaster or not. Folks that feel like a 2-5 hr race is taking away from the recovery effort are off their rocker. Go drink a beer.
"I don't have the enthusiasm to organize an event, but if I did, it would definitely be a charity event. So you should cancel this run and start relief efforts instead."
Yes, THE RACE MUST GO ON!!
Love it. Voted. If I were in NYC I'd come to cheer at least.
NFL isn't cancelling their games. Outrage? None.
Are the museums closed? Did all the starbucks close in manhattan?
Seriously, all the guilt trolls can screw an electric wall socket.
I'm sure New Yorkers dropped everything during Katrina, and cry many buckets of remorse for civilians getting bombed in Pakistan.
Oh right, they are just collateral damaage. My Bad.

This. It pains me to see how out-of-touch *most* so-called politicised Americans are. Seriously. They sound off like a hurricane alarm about whatever it is they overheard on the train about media bias et al, but good luck pinning them on any details that make it clear they have any clue at all what in hell they're talking about. It's almost pathological.
People want to sound off about complex political theories they have not the first clue about... it's a disservice, at the very least. It's straight lies, at worst. You can't just have some vague feeling of 'truthiness' about your politics if you're bold enough to step up and begin grunting 'lbrrrrrl' and using words like 'socialist'. Learn the terms and no, the troll telling me he's learned the lot is NOT you. See below.
First off, who wants to tell my why the US military is NOT socialised? You? Good. This piece of paper should suffice - one side only. Then we can move onto the postal service, 99 per cent of roads and basically the entire freshwater treatment and sewage plants across the nation. Who paid for that? Business? Guess again. Where will they borrow *trillions* to lay down water infrastructure? Yes, with a 'T'. Good luck biffing a toll on that one. $7 per glass of water, please.
Something ill-informed tying efficiency to poor conditions for workers goes in this paragraph here. People who work for a living are encouraged to add to this, and vote out anyone who would dare protect them. Ungrateful? Well, that's a strong word.
Ask a Tea Partier about anarchism. They still have a reflexive 'THEY should stop immigrants' or, 'THEY should protect US industry'. Who? Who should stop what? Don't we have no government now? No icky taxes? The question genuinely has not occurred to them yet. Seriously. They have yet to consider that question, and heaven help you if you draw a parallel between taxes and pay-as-you-go social services such as tollroads ($1.50 per use vs
... less than 20c per use when paid in taxes.
The US is a fine country with a lot of talent but your political system, and how seriously you all take it, is holding you back. The Republicans are pretty sleazy and obviously manipulating the voting public for their businessman mates, and the Dems are the same, only for their mates in Washington. The only thing which suprises me is how many people seem to genuinely believe the Republicans will help the poor or middle class in any way whatsoever, even accidentally, and why so few seem angry the Republicans seem set to cut any form of affordable healthcare, education or welfare should you need it. They seem to crave it. Not all of them are rich. It leaves me baffled. You don't seriously accept the 'trickle down' theory... do you?!
Is this happening? My friend and I are totes ready to run.

Mind your own business, we are just doing fine over here...your system of government leaves a lot to be desired.
Who won? Did Kipsang run?
People! It's okay for someone to take 3 hours out of their lives to run if they feel like it. Most of you will still be in bed wondering what relief efforts to help with.
