This year is shaping up to be one of the best ever for girls!!
Defending national champion Sarah Baxter will be challanged heavily by Neal, Mary Cain, Ali Cash, Hanah Meier, Katie Knight, Erin Finn, Julia Bos, Jillian Fanning, Ashley Erba, Alexa Afraimson and many more!
Add in Anna Rohrer, IN sophomore -- ran away from Erba today at big Indiana invite. Won in 17:14 (Erba 17:25). Both of them smashed the course record (17:54) previously held by Waverly Neer, 14th at Footlocker in 2010.
...and soph phenom Jordyn Colter of Cherry Creek HS in Colorado who ran 17:01 @ the Liberty Bell Invite yesterday. She smashed the course record of 17:34 held by Eleanor Fulton, also where Megan Kaltenbach ran 17:36 back in the day.
4922m course
fairly fast/flat
but still an awesome performance.

...
The speed rating (for those that pay attention to that kind of stuff) should probably be low or mid 150's, so not really anything well beyond what she'd already done (ran low/mid 150's a few times last year), but the fact that it was her second race and she's almost 3 months away from her goal race is all the more impressive.
But looking at the times above, she is basically 50 seconds faster than multiple FLN qualifiers and 10:20 or better athletes, and less than 2 minutes behind FLN Top-5 type boys. And beat a 10:46 girl by 55 seconds and a 4:53 (1600m) girl by 95 seconds on the way.
Any way you look at it, her race was really really good.

And Alana Hadley. No HMs for her for a while - just totally focused on the 5K XC. Took 3rd at an open college meet a few days ago. Because she has been running half marathons rather than track she is off the radar, but definite top 10 at footlocker. My money is on top 5.

I assume she is a high school runner? Looks like she ran 4:43/10:12 for the 16 and 32 as a sophomore, so could be within the realm of possibility.
You know how fast she ran for a sophmore yet you're asking if she's a HS runner? F'tard
Had the pleasure of visiting with Amy-Eloise this morning while she ran an hour long recovery run on the Centennial Trail in Snohomish. She felt like she could gone faster but was impeded by the slower girls that she was lapping and had to zig-zag through for the last 600 meters.
Yes the course is 78 meters short, there are some rises and slight downhills, thick heavy grass in places but a majority of the race is on a packed trail. No rain for 45 days in Seattle helped make the course run well.
She will stay on the west coast for college.
My guess is Stanford for her. Sounds like she's an excellent student and she would do well with the crew there. Unless she wants to stay in state, and UW isn't a bad option. I bet either she or Katie Knight will stay in state and go to Washington.
Takes one to know one!

Good Call, those are the schools she mentioned. She really likes the girls at UW, it's a great program there. Now that Stanford has Chris Miltenberg, she looks forward to a visit there.
Wow, i thought people were kidding about the Britain thing, but its true:

Why would they be kidding that she would represent the nation of her birth? I'm sure she'd be thrilled to represent either Britain or the US when given the chance...

That course is just short of a 5k. 4922 meters to be exact, and lightning fast. Still a hell of an effort. It was fun to watch.
If this is true, than what was a more impressive time ....
Eloise 16:31 over 4922 or Kaylee Flanagan 16:20 at Detwiller (IL) over 3 miles for a new all-comers course record?
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4811724Definitely Neale's run is more impressive. Nice run by Flanagan (and early in the season too), but that course is lightning fast. If a Hasay/Cuffe/Sveinsson/Goethals type (just in the past few years) had run it the course record would be under 16, which is where it should be compared to the men's course record.
Jordyn Colter's 17:01 at Liberty really impressed me as well, and Alli Cash is tearing up the 4k races (13:18 this weekend). Should be fun to see what they do as the season progresses and they get competition.

Definitely Neale's time.
Detweiller is ~30 seconds faster (it's an even flatter/faster ~4780m course)

it must suck to be a lot slower than the girls in these races, for LEtsrun guys. Its so humiliating getting smoked by a girl while she is farting and you are struggling and since you are a lot slower than her, u have no choice but to breathe the fart-tainted air.
Kevin,
Can I ask how old you are?

Kamiakin High School looking pretty strong.
Seattle Prep didnt have their #2 running Keenan Piper, but even with him, there was no way they couldve beaten the Kamiakin Braves! Are they a top team in the Nation?
Last year, both Seattle Prep and Gig Harbor pretty much cruised this race (getting beat by Jackson, Wenatchee, and barely edging Garfield). I expect it was somewhat the same this year; early season meets are just that, and aren't particularly indicative of how good a team is.
Still, Kamiakin is good -- they proved that last week at the Tracy Walters invite, finishing 2nd to North Central and well ahead of Oregon's best team (Jesuit) so far this season.
Maddie Meyers from Seattle, now a freshman at Univ Washington. Ran well for the Huskies at the same meet. She ran a 4:42 1600 as a sophomore in high school, then struggled a bit as a junior (perhaps health-related, per picture), but is running well again though maybe not at the same level as soph year.

Thanks.
