In my opinion Canova is the best choice. Maybe he can chime in here about what he thinks of Hall's situation. Hall seems to enjoy training on his own rather than in a group, and probably could be coached by Canova via a long distance program. Canova is probably the best marathon coach in the world right now (based on results and an unorthodox training program), and I think Hall could benefit from his guidance while still training on his own like he is currently.

Barry Magee. Barry knows running and the marathon very well and has a similar kind of religious faith as Hall does.
Is there a reason that no one has mentioned McMillan? Doesn't Hall already train in Flagstaff occasionally? No shoe contract issues since McMillan can coach other brands besides adidas. Gotcher and Arciniaga are both top-10 American marathoners although not in Hall's league so not threatening.

There are several. Talk to many of Coach Greg marathon test rats. Start with Paige Higgins.

Salazar is a practicing Catholic, so there's that. Maybe not Hall's particular brand of faith, though....
But I didn't know he'd decided to work with a coach. When did that happen?
Allah
Tosh
Ivan Lendl. He'd put the fear of God into him.
Additionally, Canova repeatedly said he does not believe in mileage for mileage's sake. He pointed how Moses Mosop and Wilson Kipsang have huge aerobic bases from years of steady high mileage (much like Hall), so piling extra miles just prohibits the focus on their very specific marathon workouts (just like Hall needs/wants). Granted, they still get to 100+ miles a week, but they're not doing the 160+ miles some here would suggest Hall should do.
Salazar
There.. i said what you're all thinking
Lydiard....but that is not possible. Canova is the best living coach for the marathon. He should move to Kenya and learn their techniques under the supervision of Canova.

Ryan, if you are reading, just go to Eldoret, build a decent house for 100K, pick a training group, and run with them. Simple as that.
#1 Pick: Jesus (God messed up & encouraged Ryan to continue training with plantar fasciitis, and Jesus has experience with painful injuries).
#2 Pick: Canova
He needs to go with this guy here:
BATMAN
Totally agree, Salazar would know just what to do with him!!
He let us decide what he wore for the olympics. He should let us decide his workouts each day...maybe Eddylee style where he starts and runs a 'Win a Marathon Major: I will not stop until I reach my goal" thread.
Make it happen, Brojos!
God didn't work out, but his asistant coach Jesus might work out better.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
